sounds like a good design, for th barrel I cut plywood into circles, and glued them together untill I had a cylender about 8 inches long, then, I drilled 8 holes for 1" poplar dowels to use for the individual barrels, after gluing them in , I cut more circles, and drilled them with the same hole pattern as the barrel's base, and then used them as barrel reinforcements. After this, i drilled 4 holes behind each barrel and mounted poplar pegs in them, after this, i cut the slots with a dremel, and then sanded them smooth.
also, for the motor, I wouldnt reccomend taking the motor out of the drill, but just chucking it in the drill, you really dont need all that much torque, the drill im using probably has less torque than a hmpster running in a wheel (its more like a powered screwdriver. heres a link to one that will be more than adequate.

lol, it would be cool if you could rig a "top gun" style flip up switch- one for a saftey, and 1 as a trigger

Hmm. Would be fun.
I have to keep it Unrealistic looking and acting tho, Untill im done with the prank. Pointing gun-like objects at people causes them to instantly freak, Even if its just a rubber band gun as such.
It will be all electronic though, As well as some mech to stop the motor when the string runs out. Front and Rear Grip.... Im gonna have too much fun with this.

sounds great, but you dont really need a braking system, because you can just tie a loop at the end of the ribbon, and loop it onto one of the pegs, that way, when the string runs out the barrel will spin to a stop, and you can just turn the motor off
(btw, id be happy to take some of those drill motors off of your hands...)
and finally....the movie

That's very good. One of the best I've ever seen in fact.
It does look a LITTLE too big for you to effectively fire handheld though. :tongue3:

Nice!
Now to make one that shoots paper hornets, and you'll really have a bunch of shaking friends!

That is an AMAZING accomplishment, for a tinkerer of any age, much less a middle-school student! Your design ROCKS... the <i>VIDEO<i> ROCKED!
Fantastic job!
