That's what I was suggesting in the first place. Having the trigger at the primer and the barrel coming out the, uh, the bit where the bullet would be (is there a proper name for that bit?) would be very difficult. (How on earth do you fill the thing???)Daltonultra wrote:Hmm, spent shell casing would be a little harder than you might think, unless you turn things around and have the barrel firing out through the primer. That would make things alot easier, as you could make a schrader/piston assembly and epoxy it into the neck of the cartridge.
It looks like you'd have to use something just slight larger than a .30 cal(7.62mm). Maybe an 8mm Mauser cartridge. It's also pretty much have to be a rifle casing.
I that from Old Schooljook13 wrote:you're crazy man. I like ya, but you're crazy man.
Missed that, my bad. If you cut the shcrader just a little below the valve body, you can braze a small piece of brass tube to it to hold the piston. It would have to be pretty small, but hey... Place the barrel first and get it centered, then measure the depth so you can epoxy in the piston/valve assembly at the right height. The only hard part is figuring out a barrel brace. I suppose you could make the piston tube a bit longer, and fit a spacer into the end of it so the barrel fits in the end, then cut ports in the side of it to allow airflow on the chamber side.Insomniac wrote:That's what I was suggesting in the first place. Having the projectile shoot out the hole where the primer sits would be much easier, although I still don't know how he would get the piston and all the other stuff in there properly.
That's just a schrader placed in the mouth of a cartridge. If I were tp actually make it, I'd make a version of this as long as the cartdrige, but with a hole in the chamber to take advantage of the cartridge volume, and epoxy both ends.JSR, is that yours? If so, how did you brace the barrel?
