The one thing I don't get is how the hammer striking the strike pad thing, actually opens the valve. Is there some sort of twisting thing inside?

The striker pivots from its seat on the opposite side.
Well..this seat is just a hole..
It is held upwards by the hammervalve spring, wich it meets in the middle.

The striker gives me more leverage to open the valve at high pressure, and it enables me to bring the hammer out like that.

at 600 psi are you sure that hammer is going to hit the strike pad hard enough to activate the valve really nice gun by the way

Ive made a hammer valve piolted QEV gun before.

At 35 bar ( 500 spi) it was it was possible to hammer the valve directly.
I've also tried it with unregulated CO2, at 800 psi, wich was possible...With a freakin sledgehammer.

So...I expect it to be possible at 600 thanks to the leverage the striker adds to the concept.

A lot depends on hammer weight though.And in a lesser degree on the spring strenght.

The hammer that I've put on currently might work, or might be to light.
I'll first have to get it to work to find that out, so I can do what's neccesary to get the job done.

They're all just lockparts.
I mean the thing that keeps your door locked.

I'll have to replace the hammer axle for a longer one.I intend to have an internal hammerspring, but I can fit it under the right side cover...so I'll extend the axle and do it on the left side..

If all fails, I can still use an external spring...but that's ugly!!

Tomorrow I'll visit another second hand market ( big yardsale) so I'll see if I can get some more interesting brass bits...

nice project you have. what pressure can the chamber hold max? do you think it hold co2 pressure?
if it holds co2 pressure why not build this thing ready for use with co2? that would be nice....

sorry for spam you (i post this before) but this allowed pilot the qev easy with lower hammer weights and lower trigger weights.

Indeed it will hammer lighter, but I've already thought of an even better design that works on the same principle.However, I already had the hammervalve so I'll go with that.
I could use CO2, but I have a fridgecompressor that can fill at the same pressure.
I feel safer using only 42 bar , or 600 psi.It's plenty.

I managed to get the coilspring in there, without the need for a longer axle.
THE HAMMER WORKS!!!

I found some interesting doo-das at a yard sale to pimp the gun..
A massive lions head for the butt of the handle, one smaller one for the side.

Wow it's looking great. I love yard sales because you can always find something you want for cheap. The only thing that doesn't look good is the tape, hopefully it's just temporary. I can't wait to see this thing shoot.

I was hoping I wouldn't have to say the S word, but lent, now that you have brought it up, I must admit this is the best steampunk styling I have ever seen, I guess I mostly just hate the people that make stuff look grungy, or add springs and screws for visual effect. Because all of that is functional, I can allow myself to like this gun
