they also make 50 cal round balls for muzzle loaders

to rifle a 3/4 in paintball barrel,use one of those sools that cleens the rifiling on shotgun barrels. Thats what my friend mark did with his barrel. It works pretty good

and i believe bcpneumatics will machine molds for .50cal ammo, but whats the point? plus, you kicked up a dead topic.

Don’t post while intoxicated… You mean to say BLB, not BCPneumatics. I would also recommend BLB seeing as I have also had/ have him machine things for me.

i think there is some good info on the twist rate when it comes to rifling here, i didnt read much, because its about 10:30 , and i have my first day of school for the term tomorrow, so its gonna be hard to wake up early

A musket can be either smooth bore or rifled. (Wiki says they converted from smooth to rifled about 1800.)

From ~1800 to ~1850 muzzle loaders used spherical ammo in a rifled barrel. Rifling does affect the flight of a round projectile and increases the accuracy significantly.

You are probably thinking about "minie balls", which IIRC were the common ammo during the civil war. Minie balls are shapped more or less like a modern round. Prior to Minies, the rounds were spherical and many modern blackpowder rifles still use round ammo.

With round ammo, any spin that is consistently applied will increase the accuracy. Rifled barels spin the round about the axis of flight. Hop-ups, used on paintball, airsoft and occasionally BB barrels, spin the round about an axis perpendicular to the direction of flight. Both techniques increase the accuracy of the weapon. Hop-ups make the round curve in a perdicatable and reproducible manner.

Thats a good gob mate! I do a similar thing with my 65mm barrels! Works a treat!
