Use one of the delayed designs, cover it in foam, and launch it at crazy low velocity. IIRC, the energy of a paintball is 10J. Keep the energy of the grenade below that. I was hit with a 12J golf ball ricochet in the shoulder, and I couldn't use my arm effectively for several days afterward. Granted, that is a golf ball, but be careful, and make sure you use foam.

all right could everybody stop telling me how unsafe this idea is and start helping me come up with ideas to make a safe one like ramses did? speaking of which thanks ramses but I`m trying to also make this thing degradable, thats why I was thinking of coffee filters.

I'm new, just like you. Heck I'm probably more noob to spudding than u r. BUT I'm not noob to forums. And soemthing to keep in mind when you join a forum is that you are joining a Community. And as part of a community, you do things to protect and respect the community.

People are telling you "it is not safe" and "dont do it" to protect you AND to protect Spudfiles. If you build this, and then you manage to give your "friend" a concussion because you "accidentally" beaned him on the head. Spudfiles COULD be liable.

Cops, lawyers, politicians are gonna ask, "who gave this guy plans to build something so dangerous." Fingers start pointing and this community could become a target. So perhaps do not be so focused on your project and look at the bigger picture.

OK, getting of my soapbox now.

By the way, I have been an avid airsofter for over 5 years. but I only play in sanctioned, fully insured, legal airsoft fields.

You've been told this. Only fire airsoft bb's exclusively, each at a safe velocity. You can use a wad which will slow down and discard nearly immediately, a lightweight sabot or piston which will be stopped immediately by drag or tether.

Unless you take our advice on board I request the rest of the community not to encourage him in dangerous behavior such as this.

I didn't mean it like that

I just meant that it would be a good idea to take the advice on board. The safety factor is huge. However, reliability and performance will greatly increase with a sabot/wad rather than a pre loaded cartridge which is fired.

If you need any help with aesthetics, use of wads, sabots etc. then feel free to ask 8)
