It is prop driven. But the fact is, the dimensions of the boat and canal channel still means that the faster you run the boat, the lower it'll sit. Bear in mind, we're talking about water depths of 3 or 4 feet at most, and the boat has a ~2 foot draft.

Anyway, the boat is geared in such a way that it's top speed is still only about 6 mph (plus or minus whatever flow rates are present).
Does that thing kinda look like a big cat to you?
