I can't seem to find it anywhere in here, so I'll go ahead and ask: what bore is this ETG?
The fact that the propellant gas is aluminum and that the arc resistance is so short won't be good for performance, but it would be interesting if you could fire an airsoft round from it for my coin challenge (if it is 6mm bore, at least...).

Did you check the title? You beat me to it.

I knew it was somewhere obvious, just couldn't remember exactly where...
I guess it doesn't get much more obvious than that

So why do mods care about descriptive titles again?

What kind of power could we get from this sort of gun with a 12v hi-power rc helicopter battery without waiting more then 10 seconds? Would it be enough to shoot .43g 6mm airsoft at 500 fps?
Then you'd have a plasma gun

Depends on the efficiency of the gun and power source. You'll have to get numbers and do calculations to figure that out.
Could it be a practical airsoft gun? No.

It seems to blow up cans like a good pellet gun so probably around 1000fps. This guy
http://www.anothercoilgunsite.com/ fit a 100watt charger in a pistol and it charges 100j in one second, it would only take 100j at 5% efficiency to shoot the bb at 500fps. You could power it with a LiPo battery.

Here's a video of the gun, it was much weaker than normal because the electrode was worn down.

I'd love to make one of these. What power does it require to 'ignite' the fuel?

You need high voltage pulse or electrolytic capacitors. It takes way less than 50j to explode a small piece of foil.

Yeah ok, is there a way to measure exzact power required for a certain amount of mixture?
And will there be a limit on how j's much a certain amount of mixture can produce, no matter the ignition j's ?
eg. will 10g of mixture put out the same power if 100j or 500j is used as ignition?

The power comes from the joules in the bank and the foil is mostly just for starting the arc, some guns use a triggered spark gap in the chamber without any propellant. I always used the same size foil no matter how many joules there were.
