What a rippa idea!

After seeing this thread I just had to go and rip apart my little portable compressor!
Mine will pump up to 200psi before the schrader connecter blows of. It is rated to 300psi so I can't see why I don't just connect a decent bit of hose and a quick connect and see how I go.
I did find the motor is gutless at 12 volt and prefers 13.8 volts to really work.
The piston is approx 1" across and the stroke just short of 3/4" long
It has almost 0% dead space at the top of its stroke.
I don't know how much power it would take to get it above 300psi but I can always piss of the motor and connect a drill to it like what has been suggested. some sort of socket connection should be possible.
If I can work it into a gun design of some sorts I could have onboard air up to 300psi which would be good 8)
I figure here is just as good instead of starting another thread. I am not hijacking this thread or anything.....I hope!

Nice job, you should put it into a box of sorts and connect it to a c02 cylinder so you dont have to keep turning it on.

wow that looks like an awesome pump! is that a built in cooling fan! impressive.

looks like it cost a bit more than $4.50 AUD if i can get up to 200 psi.

I think the biggest problem with these compressors is actually going to be the gears as they are made of plastic and seem like they might rip apart at higher pressures. Also the check valve might decide to give in, so beware. It really is a pity they have so low flow, as the construction is pretty solid and would make for great spudding compressors...

thats what happen to myn than the motor stalld and burnt out but i got a 250 psi gage out of it :D

yeah, thats the plan if i cant get this to work, $4 gage :d
Also i am planning on taking that plastic gear out, and mounting the drill to that shaft

Just an idea if you wish to play:

The piston is 1".

Replace the 1" piston/cylinder with 1/2" diameter.

The pressure will be much higher and the motor will not be loaded as much.

The volume will be very small so use a pressurized steel tank to hold the 400-500 psi.

Better still, get an a/c compressor from a window unit.

See how quickly my pressure assisted a/c pump gets to 600 psi.

umm..... i think..... hmm.
did you try this with a compressor tank pumped up to 60psi once?
think it was you, not sure though
