The point of a hammer valve is to increase valve speed in order for the pressure bhind the projectile to rise as fast as possible.

However, if you're using an o-ring or seal to hold your projectile that will only release it at a certain pressure, then valve speed is unimportant.

Precisely :P
Gahh one more day in this damn hospital.. then straight to Bunnings to pick up supplies..
They have a sweet blowgun which has a psi gauge built into the top of the gun, before the barrel starts.. gonna pull that bad boy out, and that will be where my mag will go in.. that way, I can make interchangable screw in barrels of different diameters for different ammo sizes.. Should also make it a very neat build

No, it's not good stuff. Not only is discussion of shooting at animals against the forum rules.... it's dumb.

If you want to hunt, get a license, buy a real gun and go hunting. Don't shoot animals with spudguns (even if it IS powerful enough to kill humanely, it doesn't promote a very good public image of the hobby). And for the love of Allah, don't go shooting animals with guns that are merely going to wound, and not kill. It's cruel and pointless.

What about infidels :D

*ahem* yes, no shooting of living things.

People who want to hurt animals go to youtube. Like this guy.

These bushturkeys attack our cat and have caused it to need vetinery attention before.. thats not cool, so I do it to frighten them off.. Obviously I didnt expect it to hit it from such a distance, but im not unhappy that it did

Fair enough, but the ImageRules specify:

Discussion of shooting anything at any person and/or animal is prohibited, and may result in a permanent banning of your account.

Alrighty well that is understandable..
My bad and it wont happen again :)

Just on that rule, what about when it comes to airsoft games and such.. They cant be discussed? Cause that is shooting at a human, though in a "controlled manner"

Here is my short conversation with ebay seller problot on the subject of purchasing bbs.
Hello. I must ask before I buy as this is very
important. I am in Australia. For legal reasons I
must have you mark this item as "slingshot ammo"
as in Australia these can not be used in any "gun"
and I use for slingshot.

Dear lozzm08,

we knew this situation
please just note in payment to remind us.

- problot
It would seem they are the go-to guys then...

I love when people are good at stuff.. Thanks a lot for that. Hey just a quick question while your around, how well did you blowgun shooter pop off single shots? You said in your thread that you had good trigger range and such, any chance you could elaborate a little? And also, I saw you pressurized your chamber using a shock pump, did it take a super long time to get it to 200psi?

you could just buy 6mm slingshot ammo that way it cant be marked as airsoft or bbs, doesn't cost much and steel does more damage

edit: there are some allready in aus cost bit more tho or if you wanna buy sh!t loads try http://www.alibaba.com/

Haha steel would be fantastic if I didnt want to use it for airsoft with friends... Dont think it would go down too well with them..
And I dont know if I wanna drop $100 on ammo haha.. Being a poor uni student and all..
The ones I got ended up at about $16 for 4000 BB's... I know nothing of the quality, just hoping they will make it to my letterbox

My popoff launcher could be made to shoot single shots. It is all about the size of the hole after the blowgun. The smaller the hole, the easier to get semi auto (OBV) The reservior on my gun was quite large so it took years to pump to high pressure with the shockie I had. IMO you should buy this:

http://tbsm.com.au/index.php?main_page= ... 63ebafcb21

260PSI floor pump for $35. Would pump up your chamber pretty quick and 260PSI should be fine for you.

IMO there are so many ways to make a decent BB gun its like a little adventure of your own, incorporate different parts of other people's projects and add a little originality, just be prepared to spend a fair bit of time.

Another option if you're willing to gop for heavy duty construction is to get a fridge compressor that will take your chamber to 400-500 psi, if you set your pop-off figure to around 50-100 psi this will act as a sort of "regulator" and it should give you plenty of shots, probably enough for a decent skirmish without the need for an on-board pump.

Hmmm yeah I have a floor pump now which should take it to about 200..
One of the main goals of the project were for it to be totally portable and completely independent. Obviously this is no easy feat..
I will go with a hand pump/floor pump with my pvc chamber for the moment, and look at a fridge compressor once I at least has a working gun..

On another note, bought all my parts and started building today. The blow gun I got is friggin sweet, the mag screw into the blowgun where was a depressurising valve, which means everything happens before the barrel, so it can be swapped out depending on the size of the ammo..
The gun is also a nice blue annodized colour with a red trigger, looks swish :P bunnings had some pretty sweet green annodized fittings which look nice throughout.
I had to make my own 3 way adapter though cause bunnings didnt have any small ones so I busted out the good old epoxy and went to town.. right now theres alot of stuff drying on my desk, and I'm most likely a little high due to all the fumes in my room..

JSR: What are your tips on making a damn strong chamber?

Once I get my iphone in action Ill whip up some pics and such
