Does anyone have any experience with buying modified sprinkler valves from the us and shipping them to UK. Is it expensive? Do they have any problems with doing it?

Sorry for all the questions but this is my first pneumatic spud gun.
Yes, there are alot of guns with metal/ pvc connected to a sprinkler valves just look around.

My one air cannon has pvc and copper , check it out here

Be sure to get a sprinkler valve with threaded ends, then put threaded adapters for your chamber and barrel. This way they can screw together and broken parts can be replaced.

All my recent cannons have screw on barrels. Even barrels that are way out of proper size can be screwed on and tested.

Does threading parts together reduce the pressure that can be used and should I be doing anything to stop threaded parts leaking?

PTFE or teflon tape will stop leaks, threads won't reduce pressure ratings at the pressures you'll probably be using, they'd only become significant near 1,000psi (or so I was told).

The "schedule" is a US pipe size standard, nothing to do with material or pressure rating. If your pipe is rated for the pressure you want to use then you should be fine.
