Also make sure you stainless is 'Merican. I imagine there's as much variety with 303 as there are toilet papers. Carpenter steel is a local plant near me in Reading, PA that makes a good majority of the the stainless used in medical implants - they make many other grades too, including material for the turbine shafts in our more recent fighter jets! Just in case you need a source for some US metal!

i have been working with advertising and such for about 8 years, and this product dont stand out in any way making me want to buy it, even if its strong enough to tow a car, its just for opening bottles. and i can get those for free
but if u go for a spesific marked lets say spudders, its easyer to sell the product.
For example, make a scale on the opener for adjusting the optimal spark gap on a spudgun.

Offer the bottle openers in 17-4 stainless or 4140 and heat treat them for "chuck norris like strength". You can mention that they are made of the same stuff that rifles and guns are made from, because thats what guns are made from, only the strongest.
Then, you could do ridiculous destruction tests once the openers are heat treated to show how unnecessarily strong and tough they are. An overkill bottle opener for an overkill individual. Charge them $100.00

What moonbogg said is exactly what I was trying to make a point of. If you make it from really cool or unique stuff, people will notice it and pay more just because they can.
I don't know about suiting spudder's needs, but there's plenty of other really expensive hobbies out there you can try and tag along on.

If I wasn't a student I'd fork the money out on it (asides from having machining equipment/making knifes and being able to diy it), always happy to invest in a cool gadget that's well engineered (oh, except that I don't drink beer)
