Let's talk about college!

Meaningful discussion outside of the potato gun realm. Projects, theories, current events.

I know I've been banging on about how great college is but at least at school you'll never have a day where one mid-semester test starts at 9am and lasts two hours and then the next one starts at 6:30pm and lasts two hours and you leave home at 8am and get home at 9:30pm.

At least I have two weeks study leave now :)

I left school half way through my last year(last year 2011) after I realised that I wasn't doing anything of interest there. Did a few short courses for the rest of the year including welding, plumbing, joinery, painting and plastering, and carpentry just to see what i wanted to do this year. Now I'm doing a certificate in Carpentry at a technical institute and trying to build up a small local longboard company.

Perhaps not, but I've done much, much worse than that in my "real" job.

mAN , I know I talked some "crap" about college,
but IF you were in your last year, why not finish up???

Atleast you'll have a certificate to have with you for LIFE.
Sometimes ,I swear, that's the ONLY difference between a "supervisor"
or "Foreman" etc. and the run o' the mill pee-on!

Also with your board company perhaps you could find a hot "chick" who's a business major to run your office, paper-work ,and tax stuff, (which tends to be a real pain for the rest of us).

I had the same problem with computer classes at a community college,
I wasn't learning anything, and the other students were already employed,
just there for the certificate, same teacher (I disliked) for three of four classes, so I quit. But if I'd been going for as long as yourself,
I definately advize STRONGLY to "finish what you've started" (BEFORE it's TOO LATE, my man!)

Oh, wanted to say it's pretty awesome to see "the legend" D_HALL around,
still replying. Good to see Mr.Crowley is still here and active too!
Awesome! :D

All right, I have to make a decision in, like, the next 36 hours.

RIT for $16k/ year (including room/board and fees) or University of Kentucky for free.

I'm specifically wondering if it's worth that much more for access to undoubtedly better staff and better students, as well as slightly better facilities.

I feel like my senior year of high school has been the biggest waste of time. Most of my classes were just bullsh*t. The only classes that were helpful to me that year were college pre-calc and welding. Unfortunately our physics and chemistry classs were a joke, the teacher spent most of the time talking to us about truck maintenance.
