Look again, that type is open on both sides...

Barrett tried to get the best of both worlds with their QDL, basically a silencer with a muzzle brake at the exit. In itself, a silencer alone also mitigates felt recoil by catching the muzzle blast in its baffles, reducing the velocity of escaping gasses and adding weight to the system.

I like your piston valve I'm wondering g if I can copy your piston design? That's the one thing I have on my hybrid to take care of.

This forum is about sharing designs, as long as you don't claim it as your own it's perfectly fine.

Just a quick question here, how did you take care of the little weld nub on the inside of that 2" 3inch galv steel pipe that your piston moves along?

The seam that runs the inside length of the pipe? I used a dremel and sandpaper to remove mine. Get a tool like a dremel to do most of the hard work and then change over to manual, more precise, tools when finishing up as you don't want to remove too much and actually create a depression. If there's a depression in the groove, the o-rings might not be able to seal it.

I feared that I had done this so I set some JB-Weld down the length of the seam I had just removed and then sanded the JB-Weld down to fill in any depressions I had created.

Only as long as we all get to see it!

I was lucky enough to find a 2" nipple that had a completely smooth interior. As I understand it, there is some variance from manufacturer to manufacturer, and I happened to stumble across one that had a nice smooth inner diameter.

Sometimes you can actually buy a seamless nipple. It'll be way more expensive than a standard nipple though.
