Sh*t,I just went and read the label on the cement and it says to always use primer:( So I guess Ill have to go get clear primer and clear cement for thenext time I make a spudgun.

I'm sorry but they make primer for a reason. If they require it for the relatively low pressures of water doesn't it make sense to use it for sure
with the pressures encountered in spudguns. You may not have a problem in regard to combustions but beware pneumatics. I don't know about others but I like to do all I can to ensure the longest, and most comfortable , lifespan I can. I have reached the age of 63 with only one incident in life as a teen and that taught me a lesson. Please go the extra step and use primer-it's worth the extra dollar and it will give you the extra sense of security.

Hey man, don't get all pissed off...

Shooting water probably had nothing to do with the barrel coming off. I think that everyone should use primer when they solvent weld, it's just a good idea.

You should take the IPEX solvent welding course, I did and I learned a lot.

you dont need primer on combustion without propane but on a pneumatic i would use it.
Carlbelcher can you use a different brand of fittings on IPEX pipe?because ive got some im using for a chamber but not sure if other brands of fittings will fit the IPEX pipe.

It shouldn't be a problem to mix different brands of PVC. All PVC pipe dimensions should fall within ASTM standards.

I was holding the barrel and the recoil knocked the chamber about 10 ft behind me,it was the recoil. Well next time I make a pneumatic ill use primer too.

Still shouldn't be the problem. There is no way a good glue joint would fail like that. Generally the pipe fails before any of the glue joints. Also the amount of force a water shot exerts is far less then 100 psi of pressure in the chamber does.

The barrel came off due to a weld that was done poorly.
The chamber was done fine but the barrel I did something wrong? Not sure though. The pvc had no glue on it but inside the fitting the glue stayed intact. Probably since i didnt use primer.
.The recoil caused the gun to go back while the barrel was still in tight grip.
The recoil was whoa. 4 foot barrel, 1.5 in wide. Ccmpltely filled with water there is alot of recoil due to the weight of ammo.

sprinkler valves can take pressure I'm using a modded 3/4" orbit watermaster rated at 80psi , i am running it at over 155psi through non rated abs drainway
pipe. many many shots, and no problems

Just dont use it,its unsafe, maybe It wont ever rupture, but there is that chance.

Its funny because i rebuilt my gun today with all new fittings and brand new valve this time i used primer:D

By removing the solenioid you are removing the switch which controls fluid flow, this would allow air to move freely through the valve.

see the little thing in the solenoid which moves when you plug a battery into it, thats the switch, you cant just whack a hose where that goes.
Its like trying to use a tap with out a washer in it.
Ok ok ok, It should work.

I replaced the solenoid(switch) with a different type of switch(blowgun).
The blow gun would release air alowing the valve to open.

I didnt just whack a hose there. I secured a hose tehre and added a blowgun to release thge pressure.

It wouldnt let air move freely thrugh the valve because the diagphram(sp?) would be held in place just like when teh solenoid was there.
