Wrapping it does nothing. Good to know that you are still alive and functional.

i did some tests, with a friends air compressor and some dwv fittings. i enclosed it in a cardboard box, and the shards went through at 130 psi. i would reccomend 60 or less psi in pneumatics with dwv fittings

hey um... do u have to get special pressure rated fittings too?

One of my pneumatics blew up on me. It shattered right when it hit 90 psi.
(solvent cemented pressure rated pvc pipe) I could have been seriously injured because I found large shards of pvc about 45 feet away.

I was curious so I ran my 150 feet of airhose out into the feild next to my house then hooked it up to a small piece of sch 30 with glued endcaps up to it . when it exploded ,the pvc pieces were curvy where it blew apart. the pieces did not travel far at all.

The pipe you have is probably cellular core. Its cheap non pressure rated stuff made for drain and non pressure things. The “good” stuff is harder to find these days, but it definitely worth not having your gun blow up in your face.

no this stuff was more expensive i was lookin at pressure rated... it's about half the price i paid for this stuff

I read somewhere that pulling a pant legging from a pair of jeans over your air chamber can protect you from PVC shards incase if it bursts.

Anybody think that's factual?

ya i had seen that some were too, it sounds like it could work. I dont want to be the one to find out if it keeps the pvc shards out of the side of your face

no it doesn't work because someone on spud tech did a test and it did nothing to protect them

You would be suprised mate. A simple chip off that space shuttle made it explode, completely unexpected. If you were to continue using this, I would seriously consider wrapping your combustion chamber in thick cloth, this would catch most of the parts, but to be extra secure, I would destroy the gun, and make a new one.

Just a note, I've got no idea what I'm talking about, but from the precautions the above posters have placed, I wouldn't take second thoughts on the safety of you, and everyone else around you.

Just wrapping something tightly around you gun will most likely not stop fragments form hitting you, if the cannon goes anything wrapped around it will rip as well just make a small wooden frame around one side with plywood and leave one side open so the air has a place to go instead of braking the wood.

Yeah i remember that. i think they tried chicken wire duct tape cloth and a forget what else all in different combos and the last one was all of the materials and it still went right through.

Even if it doesn't travel far you have to remember that most of the time people hold their cannons in their hands .
