Yes, the bending the barrel slightly will work...... it will also add a "hop-up" effect, allowing for more range...... MUCH more range. and it reduces drop, so accuracy is nearly pinpoint...........

back to the topic, I've been thinking about maybe applying a little bit of silicon or sealant which are usually quite rubbery so will "give" a little bit and allow the marble to push past it with just the little bit of force it's got from only the very start of the barrel, what do you guys reckon?

VH, do u mean like bending the whole barrel so it's all curved, or just a small section at the end? it's sounds like a good idea, so could you elaborate a bit more, thanks!

i didn't mean really BEND the barrel just give it a slight pinch so that the ID of the barrel is just enough to hold the marble. too much and you will lose power because air will escape around it. i mean really slight.

One of the better ideas i think would be to superglue a .25X.25 inch pecie of craft foam to the top of the barrel. that way its nice and soft..........

Not for copper but kind of related...I used a hose clamp and welded a piece of pipe to it for my bolt handle which attaches to SDR26 pipe (couldnt get 21) The slight pinch in the pipe holds golf balls awesome yet you can still make them fall through by jarring the barrel on concrete.

I thought maybe something similar for copper, take a tubing cutter and blunt the cutting wheel and use that to put a nice crimp on the pipe?

Just a thought.

Id love to find something that would keep my projectiles in their positions without using wadding. I find it takes time and doesnt do much but litter the area around you.

@ spudblaster, what size copper is that, and what did you use to slide over it?

I just finished my marble cannon and I too was trying to find a way to keep the marble in the barrel.

Take some 1/16" neoprene (found at any local hardware store) and cut a small sliver of it (about 1/8" x 1/4")

Take fine sandpaper, dremel tool, etc. and make one of the long ends of the rubber wedge shaped.

Put a TINY smear of super glue on the rubber and put it in the end of the barrel.

It holds the marble perfectly. If the end where the rubber is put in is cut with a pipe cutter and an edge is left, it works even better, as it helps give the neoprene something to sit against.
