I too had a regret about that... would have been better to leave the edge... oh well...

if you want to do the dimples on your pengun, I will prepare today the last step.

It will involve an additional fixture made on the lathe because I need some extra precision if we hope to have perfectly identical dimples. A little difference in depth will be a big difference in diameter.

I will not film the making of this fixture, but I am preparing right now a cutting plan that describe it. So you can be 100% on your own for this one!

[edit] Oh... damnit... I remember now you don't have a round end mill to do them
So you will need to use a flat one, and in that case you don't have really diameter change problems But I'll prepare the plan anyway.

Am I good with the two flute end mill or are you going to use the ball mill?

Step11A: a little centering fixture I made. It was a bad idea to rely on thread attachment to keep everything centered... one learn form his mistakes

This doesn't deserve a video, it took me more time to draw the plan than to cut the brass. But here's a few photographs and the cutting plan I followed.











Now the aluminum cap and the lower part of the body don't have a visible wobble while turning, which is good enough (I hope).

Now Let's cut those darn dimples... I have no choice now.. except rename the thread title maybe... hmmm... argh! And all the video titles!

I might not be able to work that way but I can appreciate the setup.

You know, you can glue the barrel and let it cure while you cut the dimples

... that and glue the schrader, you should be able to test it before the day is through!

Did either of you ever consider buying a big o-ring set? If you can't find one on ebay I'm sure one of us could ship you some (unspecified) quality harbor freight o-rings.

Ok, they're actually decent quality. I bought a 400 piece metric set for $15 and haven't found any defective ones.

Seriously, It is less viscus, and therefor flows better than the usual 5 minute stuff. It's probably stronger as well.
