While a longer barrel will generally give you more muzzsle energy, BtB tends to make high pressure launchers with very efficient valves that are still powerhouses even with very short barrels.

My BioAnth lecturer always goes on about how back in the 60s it was okay to do research that included repeated x-rays of children's heads but nowadays you'll be lucky if you can do research that results in just one x-ray per child after filling out a mountain of paper work.
