@JSR: I still prefer the idea of a a shotgun to an AMR.
I suppose it varies, but take a look at Ragnarok's
HEAL V1.1.
If I had to compare that to any one kind of firearm in appearance, I'd choose a shotgun of some sort, partly because the chamber looks almost as if it could be an underbarrel magazine.

I took a look, and I want to see more

Is it posted on spudfiles? I searched for the name but couldn't find any matching topics.
Edit: just saw the other pics of it on photobucket. Also learned what to do in case of a crab battle.

I'm pretty sure that Ragnarok only posts on UKSGC.
That launcher looks really sweet though. What kind of pressure does he use in it?

hehe that looks like copperhead prime on acid

Not sure exactly whether that's a good thing, but it sounds impressive nonetheless.
@DYI: If he gets his act together, he can use slightly over 300 psi.
@Fnord: Take note of that Crab battle advice - it could be crucial to your survival.

I'm not sure either hehe

JSR: Is that just a regular threaded schrader valve? Not high pressure rated or anything?
I'm going off to build a multi-shot version of this with a hammer valve to trigger the pilot. Wish me luck!!!

It's a regular schrader from a bike inner tube, not threaded but set in the epoxy.
a multi-shot version of this with a hammer valve to trigger the pilot
pilot? this is a burst disk launcher

You can make a pilot of some sort for a trigger cannon. Cant you?

In a pressure differential type triggered burst disk cannon, the small volume of air in between the two disks is often referred to as the pilot.
I have to agree though, that a hammer valve gun is very different from a burst disk gun.
On a side note, I will give a cookie to anyone who can make a semi-auto pneumatic burst disk cannon.

Hammer hits schrader, releasing air in pilot, moving piston backwards, releasing air in chamber to hit burst disk, break it, and propel projectile.
Got it, JSR?
Or, more likely, I won't use a disk at all. But I meant the basic high pressure 6mm coaxial idea I would copy.
DYI: Free cookie please?

No cookies for anyone until I see an real life, honest-to-God semi-auto burst disk launcher that actually works. After that, if you're able to revive me, I'll give you a cookie.
Releasing air through a slow valve so that it hits a burst disk doesn't do much, because the disk blows out before the valve is fully open. The calculations have been done to prove it (by Jimmy, I think).

I like cookies
Windshrike, a burst disk ruptures on firing. great for single shot performance but very inconvenient for a multi-shot design, so a piston valve is a better idea.
The only real way of having bust disk semi-auto is a cartridge, I came up with
this.

Oh. My. God. Please read my posts in this thread again please.
Did I not say that I would probably NOT be using a burst disk? Yes I did.

Wow thats some really fast shooting there! So a burst disk hybrid eh. Reminds me of the tippmann C3. It also has a type of burst disk but then with a cylinder and spring. Maybe this could be the ultimate project lol. I dont have much with explosives as I noticed that air is much more controllable and safe. But these speeds are worth giving it a try.
