Oh COME ON, I've made lots of things work! I've only had a string of failures lately because I took on something a bit more complex, if I had stuck to making ordinary piston cannons like you lot I'd have had success after success :D but seriously, after this, I need to make me a nice single shot launcher, I was thinking of a suppressed 3/4" piston design, sawn-off style (yes, I really liked that movie!)
Haha yeah just pulling your leg. (Yes i'm fully aware you are going to rip that apart and spit out something completely different)

'bout time, not because I don't like full auto, but because you are so good with full auto mechanisms, I can't wait to see what you can do with a single shot :P

I'm so happy this thing is finally working I can't be bothered, just make sure it's not my third leg you're tugging at :D

I'm amused that it got camera shy

Teach it to get over that stage fright and bring it out again for its big stage debut :)

Dam right, Jack was just saying how much epoxy it takes to glue one of those on.

Good going Jack! 8) Glad to see that working for you. Can't wait to see what it does w/ a barrel + ammo!

PS: Oh no, doggonit Hotwired, not that again! lol I guess Jack's the one that started it this time, though... *shakes head*

JSR, maybe making a small, say .25" porting piston valve piloted with a Snapvalve.
One of my .5" porting valves sounds like a machinegun when I pilot with my thumb over the .25" nipple and pulsing it.

cheers :) audio is courtesy of my new cellphone :D - it records videos as .3gp, problem is when I convert them to .avi they're huge (from less than one mb to about 20 megs) and if I upload them to you tube, it flips them upside down and they're laterally inverted :?
Yes, hmmm, indeed, congratulations. I've been roaming these forums for a while now and concluded that this website has too much information about homemade weaponry. As its too easy for the average joe to make something
very destructive and life threatening. I have contacted many federal and private agencies about this matter and we have set a goal to have this website shut down.
Thank you and have a good day.
This is one of the most responsible spudgun sites on the web, with zero tolerance towards discussions about explosives, shooting at living targets or property. If you want a target for your paranoia, take a look here. It is much easier for the average Joe to purchase a highly destructive shotgun than to build a spudgun.

um... this is essentially what I've made ;)

I played around with this a bit more this afternoon, the power is certainly there - at 100 psi, I loaded a 0.25g BB in the "barrel" - the approximately 1" of 6mm tube that the piston feeds into - and it punched though a cardboard box easily.

I've seen what I want to see, this design certainly has potential and i will be developing something along these lines. The original idea was for a 6mm BB/pellet air machinegun, but now that I have the Monsoon doing just over 900 feet per second with 16 grain pellets, the idea isn't as appealing - so I'm thinking I could go one step higher in calibre and go for a marble shooting autocannon, time to retreat to the drawing board for a while.

ah, but the deathray doesn't eject cartridges ;p watch this space, I'm thinking of something a bit more heavy duty than my usual dainty little prototypes.

cartridges are an unecessary complication, cool 8) but uneccesary... maybe a semi-auto/full-auto cartrage ejecting marble sniper?

Jack, if you set the pop-off pressure to a fixed level so that the gun cycled slowly, could you then put a trigger valve between the compressor and the gun so you could select between semi and auto by how long you held the trigger?

Also, I think you should really go ahead and put one of your blow-forward breaches and a decent barrel on the thing, now that you have got it this far. If I were you, I'd do that and then use metal bb's instead of pellets. Then you could finally put the vortex/cloud bbmgs to shame!

One more q, what's the top cycling speed like?
