Yeah, I'm sort of an armchair gun designer it seems: I like the thinking part better than the building part because I'm better at that. Course, I'm not necessarily
good at it, mind you...
Anyway, I think SPG has a good thought: we need some kind of loading mech to go with it. I guess blowforward would be fine, but it would be cool to link the valve to the action. But I think you want them to cycle one after the other, so that might not work out so well.
SPG: yeah, I can see a hybrid coming out of this. Kinda like Galfisk's, I guess, except for maybe a bit more conducive to auto operation.

This is what the actual prototype construction entails, in response to Brian's PM comment:

Yep, and lots of it

*note to self, buy shares in epoxy companies*
Of course in my design right near the start of this thread, the valve and loading mechanism ARE linked.

Now that does sound like heaven, though I don't see quite how fluidly my two joys in life would combine

Is it me or did the whole forum become derailed when the "The wrong kind of pump" topic popped up?

*blasphemy*
Finally I build a design that actually has a good chance of functioning, and now I discover that some epoxy has leaked and the piston is now solidly fused with the portion it's meant to seal with, just feckin' brilliant.
I'm starting to wonder if this idea really is cursed

maybe you could try buying some fittings and do it thats way, if it worked for BtB then it should work for you.

Nah, if I gave up the first time I screwed up with epoxy I would have stopped using it years ago - you just need the fortitude to take such disasters in your stride and be prepared to start over *sigh*
