I suspect that if you grab the wires with pliers you can crush the JB Weld and get everything to come off the electrodes. It is pretty tough to make a permanent glue joint to chrome steel.

But, as long as it works, who cares?

Yeah. I considered that, which is one of the reasons I used the JB Weld. I put a cap over it, much like the PVC cap over the stun gun at Burnt Latke. I made it so it can't be pulled off by accident.

Hopefully, the rain will stop and I can shoot it soon.

It worked perfectly! My first hybrid :D

I shot it three times, and was successful three times. My boy, really got a kick out of it and it scared the crap out of my wife. It didn't break any windows, though (I told my wife I wanted it loud enough to break a window in the house).

Details:
1" union
2" x 12" chamber
1/4" propane meter
stun gun ignition
Gatorade lid burst disks

Nothing fancy, but still a hybrid. I didn't want to start a new thread without pictures and they should be available sometime.

omfg! Gatorade lid? that is a high psi burst... do you really need something that strong for a 1" union?

Hey well done mate :) I am sure that you will be getting endless hours of fun with it, can't wait till you post it :P

@lent, this is a Hybrid, as such a burst disc that ruptures at around 200psi seems perfectly reasonable to me.

Yeah, already do.

Hey, Nova, a while back when I asked about sealing the union, well, when I grind the Gatorade lid down, I put a couple layers of teflon around the edges of the burst disk and it seals great, without the use of a washer or o-ring (and my gasket seal didn't work too well).

I've noticed the some post pics of the ruptured burst disks. Well, with this one, I removed the union to get the ruptured burst disk, only to find that the entire thing was blown out of the barrel. It did this on every shot, but I had not problems with the fire. Is that normal?

(I couldn't even find it on the ground anywhere. I assume it blew it into pieces).

Seems quite normal, the material used to make those lids is rather brittle, as such it most likely is shattering into many pieces, this is good as there is no flow restriction at all, compared to other softer burst discs that only rupture in the middle.
I say you are onto a good thing, stick with it!

Edit: Maybe this would be a good time to invest in Gatorade shares. :D
Find a similar material and punch out your discs, that is if you don't want to be drinking a lot of Gatorade!
