Robert A. Heinlein once wrote: "A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects."
My favorite part of the whole article... I know the conversation has gone a whole different way but I think this has become a real problem in the US.
If there was ever a shortage of food or a crisis of some kind people who didn't have a bit knowledge out side of their profession they will be the first to be in alot of trouble.
Of course it is also my sincere belief that politicians are the worse of us in the that respect.
