I live just a mile from UCB and have been there many a time. I can tell you UCB is not all its cracked up to be. Incoming freshmen classes are in the 100-400 student range, and its not unless you are one of the very smartest of your senior classes that you actually get to do interesting stuff in the lab like shoot electrons at near the speed of light...

ok sorry for replying with the results so late
I promised it yesterday
but I finnally have them and the results were surprising
These were all fired of in a 1in union with standard pen used for the peircing

20psi
Image

40psi
Image

60psi(a lot better)
Image

80psi(seemed like a normal burst)
Image

100psi was not attempted as it would only get better
and for the 1.5in union one trial was done at 20psi and it seemed to burst normally as it would with air pressure.
and no more trials are needed as it will only get better
I will have the pic of the 1.5in disk up soon

Gahh, Carlman you posted a diagram of this mortar idea months ago i remember. Here it is: http://www.spudfiles.com/forums/pneumat ... 12325.html . In there, i said id try it out for you you said "yes please do as it saves me having to do it lol, if it works then tell me! " . I did and forgot to tell you: http://www.spudfiles.com/forums/viewtop ... tml#148664. It works alright, and i do not have that leaking problem at all. It does at low pressures, but 1.5" at 60 psi- it not only rips the foil, but tears all of it off instantaneously. It might just be that youve got a small diameter and low pressure.
