Having a simple block of foam behind your projectile would act as a very simple, yet effective sabot.

Like the dart round but there is a lot of energy wasted in the non removable sabot.
Hmm... I don't even remember saying that it was non-removable. In any case, whether I said that or not, it's wrong. The picture is an APFSDS design. I haven't cut the mass of duct tape in half yet, as I don't have anything to fire the round out of, and I always lose bits if I cut it early. There is a stopper made of light plastic that protrudes out 1/4" on all sides behind the sabot that keeps it on the round during the barrel, and as soon as the round exits, air resistance removes it from the body of the dart.

The design has been tested in 50mm bore, and works flawlessly.

Just made this tonight...

The Cone tip is off of a Rocket and filled with caulk. The pvc behind it is 1.25" SCH 40 pipe (They are a perfect fit). Then a tail (made of cloth strips) is attached to the back of the cone.

This round is perfect for pre-sleeved GB barrels because the OD of the 1.25" pvc is almost the same as a Golf Ball.

Total Weight: 9oz
Total Length: 9.75" (not including tail)

Enjoy!

Thats a pretty sweet dart.
I know you said its just for looks, which it looks great, but if you actually did shoot it i think it would break straightaway and would be a little too light. But yeah it will do well in the looks section.

if you streamlined the fins a little, i.e. not cerated, you would have a great projectile. as for the strength, use so wood resin, soak it in it, it will be stronger than some of the guns on this site :o
