Btw I am not being ironic or what ever, but I think ppl should see this movie as well so they know how dangerous it is. Again, I am so so sorry for you man. I know the feeling when something happens just bc of a wrong decision. But yeah an eye... All the best to you.

I am really sorry about your injury. I had always thought of spudguns as safe. Luckily I have never had any injuries resulting from the uses of my cannons.

From now on I'll be using eye protection when shooting.

Nobody's perfect, but through certain repititous safety practices, a lot of issues can alltogether be avoided.
But we live and learn. Takes time that way though.

Am I the only one that thinks it's strange that Brog was shooting at a deer with a gun that, when shot at his dad's finger at extreme close range, didn't remove it completely?

I'm really sorry to hear about this, the worst happens to the best of us. I hope you will reconsider your withdrawal from this hobby, you might regret it later. Glad you're still here and that you're warning us.

I had a bad eye injury a couple years ago too.
I was trying to open a battery (for a project), but my goggles kept fogging up. So like a complete f*cking moron I lifted the goggles to see and took a wack at the nail I was using to pierce the battery to relieve the pressure. Well it did it's job, and I took a massive squirt of acid into my right eye. The worst part was knowing how bad it was going to be but not feeling anything. After a couple seconds it felt like a blowtorch was being taken to my eye (as well as the surrounding flesh). I was able to wash my eye out almost immediately after it happened but it was too late, I had received permanent eye damage along with severe chemical burns around my eye.

Before this happened, I was 20/10 in both eyes. Now though, my left eye is 20/10, and my right is just barely 20/20 (doctor said a contact would help but not by much). It's not as bad as your injury but it's just as permanent and the doctor said it could get worse as I get older. It's almost funny how one lapse in judgment could result in something so permanent.

I cringed when I read your account of what happened. Very sorry to hear that. Makes me feel fortunated that i was able to learn from a similar spud related mistake, although my lesson learned did not cost what yours has.

It sounded like the bullet was lodged in his finger.... strange. A rifle that is meant to kill a deer can't remove a human finger point blank? Probably shouldnt be hunting deer with a pellet gun...

Oh my god... Dude so you can't see from that eye anymore? My eye felt reallll fukn weird when I saw that picture. This makes me want to wear safety glasses everytime I fire something.

Although it's blind I reckon you look pretty cool like you got heterochromia.

It was only a 22. I wouldn't of minded killing the deer, but it was more of a get the hell out of my yard and stop comming back kinda gun. It hit my dads finger wierd and got caught under the bone and thats what saved it somehow. i can ask him again how it was still able to be there.
The entry mark going in was pretty scary, and pretty torn up. but when the doctors took out the bullet, they stiched up everything.

It was only a 22.

Well, if you're not looking down the barrel, goggles should never take a direct hit, and they should protect against ricochet and shrapnel fine - which if it hit your eye could still be enough to blind you.

And anyway, you shouldn't be discouraging him - if he wants to wear goggles, then that's s good thing.

I wasn't trying to discourage the wearing of safety glasses - just making the point that it still doesn't give you any license to look down the barrel.

I know, I was suprised too. But hey, He's a lucky guy. Been shot 3 times, struck by lightning, and survived cancer....

It's all very simple: Would you do that with a real gun? No? Then don't try it with a spudgun.
