I don't know why he'd bother changing it. While it is slightly air intensive, it's 100% effective (speaking in terms of all the air going through the barrel) and is whaty he's been aiming for all this time.

Shall be good to see, but if you do i reckon have a nice streamlined valve/trigger like this one.



Or you could even streamline a pressure washer handle, as BTB did for his inline (did he do that on the pnuzi also?).

Or perhaps even a dedicated valve.. But I'd go for something better than a ballvalve..I believe you know why

That actually looks like it could work well, I'm guessing the cylinder would operate fairly quickly to give you good opening time and performance. I like the idea of a "closed system" where all you have to do is turn on the airflow. You could regulate rate of fire by adjusting flow to the piston, though that would technically give you a slower opening time.

Or perhaps even a dedicated valve... But I'd go for something better than a ballvalve...

The actual trigger won't be the ball valve handle, I was thinking of replacing it with a lever (sprung to the closed position) connected via a rod to a proper trigger. The whole thing (assuming I can get it to function reliably) will then be fitted into a bullpup body shell, in my mind it looks like something out of Ghost in the Shell:

How about a steyr aug? Kind of stupid looking guns, but deadly, awesome things.. But I bet it would look great in a shell like that, would you still be considering the useless (or not) recocking bolt?

The Steyr looks too "Star Wars" in my book, I prefer a snub-nosed layound like the P90 I might yet fit a blowback bolt, depends what kind of blast the smaller porting provides. We'll soon know, testing when I get home from work (though I don't have much air left in my SCUBA...)

I tried to test it but clearly the epoxy hadn't cured enough and it started to balloon, back to the airing cupboard until tomorrow afternoon...

I was thinking of a fixed magazine with enough rounds to fire until the tank is empty, basically as long as the barrel

It's a fictional assault rifle, though it does seem to be a marriage between the FAMAS and P90 as you pointed out, and the latest bullpup from Magpul Industries bears more than a passing resemblance to it...

I'm really glad I finally took the plunge and bought a paintball tank, not only does the higher pressure available give a lot more potential but it allows you to think of actual finished portable launchers instead of an experiment hooked up to a compressor.

This is roughly how I envisage the final configuration would look, of course I have to confirm that the unit works first... and find time to refill the SCUBA

Tried a weaker one and it went on for a while (both videos are from a full 200 bar/3000 psi tank fill with the reg set at around 500 psi) but the difference in "crack" could be heard. I must emphasise again how loud this thing is, the video doesn't really do it justice.

Naturally, I had to try it out on a target, here's three aluminium plates spaced box'o'truth style and shot with 0.22 pellets from a 6mm calibre 36" long barrel, firing 2 10 round bursts. The last plate wasn't penetrated, not quite up to my power expectations. Maybe I should turn it up to the reg's maximum 850 psi and use a much stronger spring, hmmm...
