Ooh, how about a boosted toaster? Because toasting is all about oxidising the surface of the toast, just toast in an oxygen rich environment. You'll either get a big fire, or extra fast toast. Maybe both.
And then, if you get really bored, you can make a thermal lance out of the rest of the loaf, and cut through steel plate with bread products.
Damn... I come up with some odd things when I'm feeling (inexplicably) marginally unwell.

I've cut some pieces of acrylic sheet as a start for a test barrel. Just need to find something to space them apart. (I could mill parts especially, but I've been putting it off).

How about a salvo with nichrome wires built in as a heating cylindrical barrel of a regular pneumatic and it would minimize blowby and possibly crumpling of the toast. If it all needs to be automated, control could be done by a simple microprocessor and potentiometer with electrical contacts put inside the barrel to match up with contacts on the heating salvo.
I might give this a try myself

I actually just though of a bagel. I would suggest putting it in cylindrical pipe with an inner pipe like a guide rod. You get everything, then:
Cylindrical bore
strong projectile
good seal
low sectional density (good for the acceleration part, but bad for the distance part. Tumbling may help.
Then, you could simply toast the "bottom" of the barrel as it lays flat against a grill.

yes Gun Freak i do
also i believe that the crossbow design will better impart KE and suffer from less loss. also you wouldn't have to worry about the orings melting or things not sealing right. i would build my own and challange who ever started this thread. also why not rocket powered toast

make a 12 foot tall rectangulaar barrel with a rocket sled and a heat shield to prevent the rockets from accidently going off. you will shatter the record!!!!! 100+m up[/quote[/quote]
