Actually he can. I posted this to talk about which caliber I should choose. You and Clemson started arguing about which valve was the best. Granted we were talking about valves, by that was in relation to my caliber. Please cease and desist with the argument.

We use both, heres a screenshot of my sent box, and now that we have established that, back to the topic, my opinion is you should go with a .60 caliber

@ HunterT... .60 cal will provide some nice punch...good choice.

As to valves...sprinklers can provide good performance, possibly give some thought to a 3/8" or larger qev as a ready made solution.

Aside from that, a decent performing piston valve isn't really hard to make.

I hate to see you simply throw on a ball valve...challenge yourself just a little...it's how we learn. And you don't have to limit yourself to a "bike pump" either.

What do you have for tools?

You've convinced me to go with the sprinkler valve, even though pipe fittings and sprinkler valves are hard to get in alaska. My tools are very limited. A drill, a saw, and some other basic tools and that's about it. I know how to use them and I have a mechanic friend with lot of tools. Also how would I attach the sprinkler valve? Would I just thread my pipe?

My tools are very limited. A drill, a saw, and some other basic tools and that's about it.

That's about all you need to build a pretty good gun. The only supplies you'll need to build a nice PVC gun are some Tefflon Tape, a Clamp in Schrader valve or the equivalent, some PVC Epoxy and Primer, and a bike pump (and the PVC pipe and fittings and valve of course).

The Sprinkler Valve just screws into regular sch 40 PVC threaded fittings with some Teflon Tape of course

This is the situation of most spudders, including mine. It was especially bad when I was overseas for work reasons and away from my workshop, with literally only a drill, hacksaw and sandpaper, but I still managed to churn out a combustion cannon, powerful BBMG and a high pressure 6mm piston launcher.
