I wasn't going to use a pilot valve. I was planning on using a blowgun because of the trigger so i can just pull a trigger then it will fire. Its hard to aim well when I use a ball valve.

Then in your case the blowgun would be the pilot valve.

I've been searching and i can't find this information. How do i install a Schrader valve? I prefer not to just buy a bike tire and cut the valve out of the inner tube. Any advice on how to do it right?

Buy a threaded schrader valve and use proper fittings and bushings to install it or tap threads for it.

Since i don't have a tapper nor am i about to drill it into my pipe, i think i might get fittings. Thanks.

Another option is to use a tubless tire valve stem. you simply drill a hole in the pipe the right size and pull it into the hole from the inside with a little sealant. My Mouse Musket used one.

You can see it down by my right hand in this photo. Make the hole slightly small so it is a tight fit. This just requires a hole in the pipe and no threading. I found when it is installed with Window Seal for car windows, it is leak proof and will not push through when using an air chuck on it. They are not expensive at an auto parts store. I like to use the short ones.

You don't neccesarily need a tap to thread it in, you can drill a 1/2" hole and use a bunch of teflon, or just buy some bushings to get it down. Clamp in schraders are also an option. These things should all be availble at a auto supply store.

I already bought a part, i'm just going to Downsize from half inch with a bit of galvanized Pipe and then down to the Schrader.

Know what, the heck with this. I'm gonna buy a pipe threader. I might even have one, I'm not sure. All of this stuff is WAY too complicated and is going to cost me MORE than 10 dollars, which i can buy the tapper with. I'm going to search for one and if I don't have one, I'm off to True Value.

Goody, more questions. Do i use an epoxy to seal the valve to the hole, or just cover it in teflon.

Found out how expensive the tap is. I'm just going to use a galvanized hex bushing like i originally planned. Its around 3 dollars, whereas the bit is 10.99. Also i got a mountain dew. 8)

I'm going to seal the valve and hex bushing with some Teflon i got lying around. I'm getting the cement out in a minute, then I think I'm gonna start piecing this together. I'll dry fit it and give you guys a photo before then.

I'm going to Duct tape the barrel down to the chamber while I'm cementing it.

If you haven't cemented it yet, I would suggest building it thus that the valve is adjacent to the barrel (rather than behind that pair of elbow joints). If it's already glued though, no biggie.

I didn't see it mentioned yet, and as this is your first pneumatic, I figured I should make sure that you know to use primer when cementing the gun together.

EDIT: I read the thread more carefully, and noticed that you did mention using primer. Sorry about that

Thanks. I think I'm going to make a wooden brace to make sure it's Centered. I didn't want it behind those elbows, but because they are so big I have to do the annoying square thing. Is there a way to have the barrel snug against the chamber WITHOUT having to use all of those elbows in that way?

Not to get ahead of myself, but I eventually have to figure this out. I need a reusable ammo i can stuff into a half inch barrel. Preferably air tight like a potato slug. Any suggestions?

Nerf Darts are fun.

Most people seem to use braces rather than making their barrels close to their chambers. Like this one.

What does that brace consist of? I see them but I have no idea WHAT it is.

For my brace, I used a block of wood, and a hole saw to cut cirles out of the appropriate size. The I cut the circles off halfway to make semi-circle holes in which the barrel and chamber sit in. A hose clamp or similar can be used to secure it.
