As he said, a leak on the pilot side of a QEV, or an airtight projectile combined with a leak on the front seal of a QDV can also trigger the shot.
Seriously ?? a leak will just vent to the atmosphere... I don't think this can trigger it... the only question is >> wouldn't it be a better idea to add a piston that does what ammo does right now ? If there was a valve he could use and ammo that fits the barrel

Not with an airtight projectile... or as was mistakenly stated an airtight bolt on this valveless design.
Not much pressure is needed to move the projectile forward.

I'm pretty sure this has happened before, may have been on one of the french QDV launchers though.

Hehe, but then it wouldn't be valveless :D
He uses the same projectiles in his other copper barrelled canons. and in fact aren't those the ones you were saying would be good simple affordable drag stabilised projectiles ? ;)

yup and I like them but I can't say I don't understand those who would like to be able to shoot just anything that fits in the barrel

I still don't get it... air would have to leak out fast enough to create an area behind the projectile where pressure is > 10psi or so

But if the projectile is airtight and the man's using 600 psi then it's not going to take long at all for 10 psi to collect behind the projectile.

not because behind the projectile is not sealed so the air to the atmosphere from

No pressure rise ...

Don't worry Petitlu, it doesn't apply here since your ammo is your valve.

But if the bolt leaks you will get some loss.

So...

How about this idea:
Use the firingpin as the safety.

In cocked position it should leak, when released it should be as airtight as possible.

You could do this by having it all fit REALLY snug to avoid unnessecary losses ...then file the portion that travels in the bolt down so when cocked there is an open airchannel.

This could be done without any other changes.

projectiles=good
launcher= very good!

For safety reasons with 100% seal : change the bolt.

Cut out a section, see picture.

Maybe ask Al-xg for translation.
