First opinion.

The 3/4" ballvalve is not enough to vent the piston in one time. The piston slides back when I open the pilotvalve, but a little bit to slowly.
I will try a 1" one tomorrow.

I'm very sure it will work. I know from my first 2" piston valve I maked few weeks ago. I was pressurizing the cannon through a 1/4" quick disconnect fitting. I released the compressor hose, and was ready to fire. Keep in mind that the 1/4" quickdisconnect fitting was still connected in the ball valve. When I openend the valve nothing happened, the air from the chamber was escaping through the quick disconnect fitting. When i unscrewed the fitting so that I have a 1/2" opening it worked greatly! The piston slided back with a big bang.

Hopely it will be the same with this one! :)

Good news!!

I found a dealer that will make me a 1m 3" pipe.
Tomorrow I can get it! Tomorrow more news about the changed pilot ballvalve an STEEL chamber. I can take it to higher pressure than pvc.

I've changed the pilot area. I've disconnected the T and manometer. I will place the manometer in the 3" elbow through the pipe. That will make the pilotvolume smaller than before. I just have now a 3" to 2" reducer, bushinged(lol) down to a 1" ballvalve.

the pipe and 3" endcap

Image

Endcap screwed on the pipe, the threads are a little bit to long in comparision with the thread from the encap.

5/4" pilot valve

I'm thinking about using a pneumatic cylinder to open the ball valve. Should this be possible?
Also something else. Can I pressurize the chamber not behind the piston?

Yes, but it would make a lot more sense if you just spring load it. Or use a qev+ blowgun combo

Good news!

The piston works perfect with the valve upgrade!
More info tomorrow.
Here a few pics with everything mounted except the barrel and pressure gauge.

Thanx.

And I love the sounds two times more then the 2" version.
The sound when the air escapes when the piston slides back is fantastic.

I calculated something.
When I pressurize the launcher with 4bars. The force on the piston is 176N.
Unbelievable what a little bit air can do when its compressed. :p

Nice... this needs to be taken to higher pressures ;)

This has to be the cannon of all cannons, I haven't seen anything bigger on all of Spudfiles! THIS CANNON IS EPIC! I can't wait to see damage pics!!!
