Finally got back to work on this project after a long period of just thinking it through.
I separated the hammer from the pump head in front of it.
Now the seal reseats under springtension, against the striking pin...and the hammer ( along with the bolt) slams into it without friction.

In stead of a foomp...it goes clank!
This reduces the force needed to knock open the valve...leaving me with more power to load a projectile.

I've decided to make a steel magazine to replace the aluminium one.
This way I can weld on whatever is needed to lock it in place firmly and use tighter dimensions..wich should make loading more predictable.

I've also taken out the barrel so I can fit an O-ring seal into the breech, some parts still need to be made however..
The breech has been drilled out slightly so I can load tight fitting lead balls more easily.
The O-ring seal will keep it all airtight regardless...

Boy..time really flies..

I had the opportunity to put in a few more hours on the Pnuschnikov..

Fixed a few things..completely redid the bolt assembly and the sear.
The sear is now set in a sled.After pulling the trigger the sled is pulled back by springforce.As the hammer catches it on the way back the sear is blocked by the rear of the trigger ...wich enables semi shots. Releasing the trigger causes the trigger to slip under the sear so it can be triggered again.
But the sled can also be prevented from sliding back disabling the auto-locking of the sear.
This makes it fire in full auto.

As it became quite annoying to take the gun apart and then put it back together numerous times as I was tinkering with the triggermech I decided to change the way it was held together.
Now only one bolt locks the receiver to the main tube.
Fieldstripping can be done without tools and under one minute.

The lever can be set to semi- or full auto, or block the bolthandle in the rear position.
This makes it easy to insert the mag as the bolt is fully retracted and it disables the whole trigger mech,making it function as the safety.

Here's a side by side of the select fire lever.

Look closely, you'll see it blocks the axle of the sear.
Locking the sled in place so the sear cant slide off the trigger makes it full-auto.

You would be the MVP in a apocalyptic situation

Well..I'm not there yet.
Still need a reliable magazine and fix a freaking leak...wich popped up outta nowhere...

When it acts up on me I'll put this project on the shelf for a while as I intend to fix up two of my older projects.
I have finally figured out what to do with "Old Shatterhand"

Yup...Puts the "nikov" back in..
Damn...still haven't been able to do a full test.
Currently struggling with "Lil'Shat"...fixing a leak turned into a rebuild...

I know progress is slow...but I'll put in the hours when I can...

I look at this and think:

Go with wire feed Jack, wire feed!

Well...in all honesty..

I'd rather have a mill at my disposal.
Just brazed my first joint ( on Lil'Shat) and I imagine Pnuschnikov would have looked a lot better with all milled parts brazed together....

I'm quite sure the main tube wouldn't have sloped down ín the back from the heat either..

But...I'd still like to see JSR, what you can come up with now that you're less dimensionally challenged..

Came across this and it just seemed to fit.

Why I didn't go with an AR style selector:

Short vid of the functioning selector switch...
Spraypainted it silver for better visibility....She's an ugly lump anyway

Tank was running on empty though so after a short burst in full auto it runs out of breath...
I should have blocked the barrel right away, imitating ammo in the barrel..that would have kept more force on the hammer..

Still...you can see the selector actually works!
