Without modification, the diaphragm is essentially a check valve. A common way to modify it is to heat up a pin and poke a hole on the outer edge.

Thanks Jack, will do that for the 2 bolt action cannons for sure.

Just lemme take three steps back for a sec
Please, for your sake, don't try to put 4500psi in either of those tanks. The fire extinguisher, they get pressurised to roughly 100 or so, the propane tanks usually run between 90 and 150psi. Given you're using an air pump as opposed to a hydraulic pump to pressure test (I think) then you're asking for trouble. However, your grease gun is an ideal tool for pressure testing! Look up AvE on Youtube, he shows you how to make a hydraulic pump with one.
Good to see an enthusiastic new member, but just go quietly with the HPA stuff. It can turn around and bite you very easily. If you want a taste of what it can do, grab a pressure washer handle, stick a small chamber on and a barrel of your choice. You'll be very surprised.

Who said i was going to put that much pressure into an old extinguisher...?
Hmm better take around ten steps back amigo.
I'm moving very slowly...pump and tank still aren't here, and only playing with low pressures for now...its all new to me.
The larger extinguisher i have will only handle around 400-500psi, but i cant fill that up yet..so just baby pressures for now.
Just ordered some 88g Co2 capsules.

I think you did

I have a very large tank here, it would hold a lot of air being an old gas tank...well i hope it might..

This is the larger one F1.
Was joking about hot pink.
The one on the right is now chrome/silver..the fat tank will hopefully be a great air storage tank to decant from will find out soon i hope.
This paint was great to use. If you want chrome finish you simply need a gloss black first.
Ive air brushed mirror chrome once before and it came out fantastic, this cheap stuff in a can worked better than i expected.
The things you do whilst waiting for epoxy, etc to set...

For sure...i'm going to order a ninja tank when i'm ready...but for now happy to play with low pressure.
My chamber is too small atm..i went to a place that had high pressure rated pvc, its black not white..they had the end caps but no pipe for them...i have end caps..
More progress...barrel is done..just need to trim it and recess an area for the magnet and eventually make an air swallower at the front..
Threw a regulator on...but the ninja tank will make its way on their soon so it will look a little cleaner.
Hope to get the mag feed done this weekend, but for now its just quick single reloads.
Barrel is for 8mm rounds..love AAA batteries now and i've told everyone never to throw them out.
The breech hole is for 6mm bearings for that's all i have for now...so a crap load of air will be hissing past those bearings until the 8-millers arrive..

Sharing a little more progress, finally up to the ammo feed stage which is great.
Have my magazine sorted, just need to finish that but really want to sort my trigger woes out.
Apart from that my first pneumatic is almost finished..but define almost..
The chamber is a little too far away for my liking, but happy with it so far.
I have a regulator on there but im not seeing it use the pressure i dial in.
I turn the reg up to 90-100psi)mybabystartingpressures) and when i fire the needle hardly moves.
I really need to order a ninja tank..will do that today.

Stapler spring

Thats it.
Staplers are great for strong springs, even for a trigger box, never pulled one apart until yesterday.
But the stapler springs will be more for the pistol cannons, will eventually spin a nice long spring to go half way along the top of the barrel...just don't have the right tool to do that yet.
Wow i've reached 100 posts...time flys when your having fun.

Was much easier than i thought, trigger is 99.9% done in the pic but works great as is.

Can now move onto the outer barrel and magazine.
Plenty of time its like my pump is never going to arrive..

I'm almost ready to showcase my first pneumatic cannon.
Just wanted to say a BIG thank you to JSR & Farcticox1 for your replies.
It's all finished, little more paint would be nice but apart from that its ready for a chrono test.
I'll only be running from the compressor until my hpa tank and pump arrives for now.
End thread.
