A relay is an electrically controlled switch. If you get a remote control relay, you can switch any circuit on or off via remote control. You can buy one for about $40US here:

And no, changing the wire length isn't going to make any difference at all. Voltage is a measure of how easily electricity overcomes resistance. When you get over 100 kilovolts, your problem is NOT going to be too much resistance in your wire. Much more likely your problem will be too LITTLE resistance in the wire's insulation.
In a related question: I just bought my second stungun. The first one burned out after probably 50-100 shots. I noticed on the new gun's packaging, the new stungun says not to fire it for more than a second when it's not actually zapping someone. It also says that repeated firing in air can damage the device. Any pointers for making the new stungun last longer?
