Here's the thing, if we merge the forums, you all get your postcounts merged, your status back,and all your old posts.

Sounds interesting, but I have a feeling we'd lose a lot of members because it wouldn't be the same. Spudtech was a high class place and merging it with this would not keep the same atmoshpere.

Spudtech (forums) is gone. Gone gone. What do we have to lose?

host them here or whatever so you can view them from spudfiles

I agree, a seperate read only forum archive of the old spudtech would be in everyones best interest. Kyle do you think joel would keep it hosted on his site? just susspend all acounts, lock all posts and lock the whole forum in susspended animation somehow? that way it can still be part of spudtech...

but then again if joel is cutting funds and cutting back in the buisness as well he may not be in it much longer and hosting it all here makes best since as for the nature of this site...

Important note: this conversion tool WILL WORK with existing phpbb users - the conversion finds the next free userid then migrates users beginning with that ID. The conversion tool also checks all Snitz users for the same username as existing phpbb users - if an identical username is found, the converter will delete the Snitz user and reassign all their posts to the phpbb user. This means you can merge Snitz and phpbb user databases.

That's straight from the migration script, and it does work on the test server PCGUY has up.


The status is up to PCGUY's discretion, as he has the ultimate power to decide who's a mod and who's not.

It's not that i'm pushing for a merge, i just want all the facts out on the table so people can make an informed decision.

Hah but really, SpudTech used to be very high profile (only very advanced topics discussed) along with many advanced members however in the past 6 months to a year or so it fell greatly.

Lets not forget that a lot of people have different identities (Not a big issue), but some names are used on both forums, by different people. Bit of a problem.

It may work out in script and concept, but not practically. (IMHO)

I know you were only kidding but just for the record, I like it here. The ads bug me (on all sites) but I understand why they're here. Overall though, it's gonna be different. It's like I moved to another house. It'll take some getting used to (considering I haven't been through all the forum sections yet) and then it'll be good.

SGTC forums were more cleaner looking and in my opinion had more high tech, refined cannons. That is only my opinion however.

Ads are the only way the Internet stays together. If there was no such thing as ads, then the only sites online would be commercial websites. If you have a problem with ads, then you need to unplug your computer, turn off your TV, take everything out of your room and sit on the empty floor.

Why would I leave it? If I complain about the site and then leave what help would that do? I look foward to posting some of my new cannons and I hope they are of good quality.

I didn't say ads were life and death. Just that they bug me. It bugs me when people tailgate and when kids act like (insert word here) and the little things. I don't let them get to me though. I was just saying...
