I am thinking about making one of these. I should just go to the goodwill and buy a bike. Then mod the hell out of it with a 2 HP Echo 60S saw. I think that it would work well.

I've seen bikes powered by turbine engines the size of your palm, so I don't see why a chainsaw engine wouldn't work. Also, keep in mind that two stroke engines have twice as many power strokes as four strokes, so less horsepower but more torque. (I think I have that right someone feel free to correct me if I have it backwards)

No, it's 2x as many RPMs, but 1/2 the torque. But with the correct gearing, it all works out. And they are lighter and don't burn out like a 4stroke would in this application.
I would suggest using the bike chain, since it won't cut your leg or arm up if you get in it's way. Or you could go with a spindle drive, using a bike peg on the crankshaft of the engine. That is easy, but it wears the tire out fast. Although a chain drive is a little more dangerous and harder to set up. And a chainsaw would be sufficient, since people have used weed eater engines successfully.

I'm actually building a little scooter using a snow blower engine. I will post pictures and a write up when it's done. Shouldn't be too much longer, maybe a week. Although it may be longer, I'm talking to a girl online all the time now.

The ideal setup would be a 2cycle snowblower engine, chain drive, and a clutch. You can find snowblowers in the garbage that need just a little work, they don't have much wear, and the engine can run in any position without burning up. Just need to make an air cleaner for it.

i would keep the sprocket switchers on the bike itself so you have some sort of control over your speed........... if its too hard just keep the back one at least.......

and also, im not skeptical aobut this at all. my dad has a chainsaw he never usues, mught want to chekc this out!

I don't think that a mountain bike would be ideal. Get a one speed bike, like a BMX bike.

a mountain bike with gears would be better, especially if you are planning to go up any hills.

i recomend building one from scratch or at least from a frame that is ment to cary a engine mounting a big enough one on a bike would be very tricky

if you can weld make one if you cant find someone who can and design it all out with some where to put a good size lawn mower engine

i looked at my chiansaw today and i realized that the chain would fit perfectly aorund bike chain sprockets. my parents wouldnt let me rip the thing apart though, even though they NEVER use it. made me a little mad. i was gonna get the 3 speed transmision i found on e-bay for 20 bucks too! oh well. i guess ill stick with making airsoft guns......
