As you may or may not already know, I dismantled our broken dryer today and saved the good parts like the <s>hot girl</s> plastic see-thru door :roll:
Um...
Anyway, I have an idea: attach the door to a piece of wood to form a semi-sphere dome chamber and ignite an atmospheric mix inside and film in high speed. Too dangerous?

By the way Jack, I was watching a documentary on the Kursk disaster and they showed video footage of some combustion tests done in a lab where the fuel mixture was "precisely measured" with a giant syringe before being injected in to a clear chamber :wink:

@Petitlu,
I ran some numbers in HGDT and with a 100cm x 4.5cm diameter golf ball barrel you could get transonic velocities at 30x with this cannon :) :D

Wouldn't be fun if it wasn't :D I doubt you'll crack it to be honest, even if it was bolted securely.

Can't seem to find it online as I watched it on the History Channel I think. All I can say to describe it is that it took the view that the Kursk had a faulty torpedo, not the insane view that a US sub sank it. The doco mainly focused on the recovery and interviewed only a handful of people; mainly a wife of one of the crew and the former captain of the Kursk. It seemed recent and had a male British narrator I believe.

The combustion test was extremely cool. Done in a chamber about 10 foot long it had holes near the point of ignition that allowed the flames to shoot out; like as in an engine. The main, blue coloured, flame front continued down the chamber. It was filmed in high speed.
