Two things murderers should know before burning a body:
1. There's going to be a hell of a lot of steam
2. Buy firelighters

:D

Now I feel like re-watching Peep Show.

LOLOL that episode was painful to watch.

Also this:

edit: interesting new chrony

http://www.magnetospeed.com/

It uses "electromagnetic sensors" as opposed to optical sensors to detect the passage of the projectile, which makes sense because all the usual problems of too much/too little light and muzzle blast are avoided.

... yet happily to my knowledge none of our memebers have actually died of a spudding related incident. If they have, we never heard of it.

Speaking of which... I wonder if any long term members have made any provisions for the forum to be informed in the case of their untimely demise? Going out with a large enough bang to make international news doesn't count ;P

I have several members as friends on facebook but since I went overboard with blanket privacy settings, no one would see the "Congratulations on blowing yourself up, rest in pieces you c*nt" messages on my wall.

I have a list of email addresses that I give to my partner of the moment, but none are on SF.

I thought you considered Facebook evil Jack, you've relented?

That's a good idea which I think I shall adopt.

Still avoid it like the plague, but the one thing it is good for is organising and keeping track of one's social calendar so I still have an account. Also when you're wondering what the hell happened last night, someone usually has photos :D

I know, I'm a clever prick sometimes...

Since most people don't talk by email anymore, I just started using it. Most of the people I have are just internet randoms

I have often thought about this also, especially after nearly loosing my hand when the copper barrel on my hybrid ruptured. I think my friends know I frequent spudfiles enough that they would make an account and post something. However, I find the chances of my dying due to this hobby very remote.

Another scenario I've thought about is being raided by the police. We have AOS (Armed Offenders Squad) call outs all the time for things like fireworks going off, toys guns, airsoft guns, air rifles, car backfire, etc. so it would be very easy to have a neighbour, passerby, or classmate from highschool dob me in just because they think what I do is dodgy or when hearing cannon sounds. It always surprises me when someone I know only a little comes up to me and asks me about my hobby in a polite way.

I'm far more cautious now that I'm out of highschool, in HS, you could have a lot of charges dropped/lessened because of your age and probably even removed from your record after enough time. Haven't fired my piston hybrid (or the other one) since September, have only fired it with the TB barrel once and only fired it with the aluminium piston 5 or so times.

What scares me the most is the justice system. Far from being rational, logical, and based on fact, juries and lawyers are the last people you want deciding someone's fate. Give me a male and female engineer, statistician (to decide the probability of me having comitted the crime), biologist, chemist, physicist, and mathematician for the jury. Also: my own team of scientists representing the disciplines required to interpret and argue the evidence, a lawyer to handle the legal side of things, and a peer-review panel for the judges. At the end of it, they would probably end up giving me a research grant and a grass field :D

Even if you're banged up though, you'll find a way to get the word across I suppose.
