But gumgum suited better I think, trollface is for infinite anythings.

You need a trollface in the background saying "Hmmm".

Or magnets coming out of the barrel.

I really like the SR-2 from EVGA for it's dual Xeon support along with overclocking ability, but with the price of 8 core's dropping, and the possibility of an enthusiast 8 core chip with OC support I would rather take a realistic approach than spend all my money on something that's way overkill lol.

I'm using Modo right now though primarily with stuff I create in Solidworks - I've gotten into free form and mixing in glass and other translucent materials and illumination really taxes my current build - a 4 core non HT at 3.5GHz...
Due to time constraints, I only dabble in it. I'll sometimes take someone's files and change lighting, move perspective, etc and let it render.

Making a 3D stereo render is a favorite passtime. Some of those rendering are truly awsome when rendered twice to make a stereo photo. To make stereo, all you have to do is move the camera over about 70mm and re-render for the other eye. Awesome results.

My current build is a Core 2 Quad with Hyperthreading. Due to my Employer's generous chip loaner program, I'm currently eligible to pick up a 6 core i7 with Hyperthreading. 12 threads and overclockable. :D

I spend much more time doing Audio. I have a Midi Music Workstation set up with a couple of keyboards including a classic Yamaha DX7.

I was very close to getting the i970, but I can't help but fight the feeling that something much better is only a few months away lol.

The price is right for me. :D The loaner is an i-990.

12 threads doing rendering on a desktop used to be considered supercomputer level of processing.

I can't talk about anything that may or may not be in the future.. Sorry company rules.. I can only talk about it when I see it on outside sources.
:(

The 10 core was mentioned only after the press release.

The trollface looks better there, but I've made a little change.

Edit: internetz is full of fail here, damn wireless. 1.5 MBs most times though.

Good point, he's already put a magnet based homing system in the projectile. It just didn't look right looking away.

Like how Cereal Guy doesn't look right flipped.

Wow, I posted a meme link without it being NSFW. Can't go past Encyclopedia Dramatica for an education about the internet though.

knowyourmeme is a pretty good site but yeah, Encyclopedia Dramatic tells it how it is. And memebase is amusing.

There have been so many "leaks" from AMD and Intel - It seems we're going to hit a new level of consumer performance soon. In reality 99% of computer users could make do with technology from 5 years ago and won't see much gain from an 8 core hyper threading processor using their single threaded programs...

But 8 core processing has been the big thing for quite some time now with the 2P workstations. 8 cores would be really nice without having to resort to a magny cour chip...

For writing letters, doing email, browsing Spudfiles, etc, you are indeed correct.

If you want future photorealistic 3D games rendered in real time, do weather simulations, earthquake simulations, 3d animations, video transcoding, and other CPU intensive tasks, then uses will expand.

Remember when the command prompt and 640K of memory was good enough? A 20 meg hard drive was the norm? We look back at that as totally obsolete today. Tomorrow's machines and applications will obsolete the current PC's.

I expect 3D interactive multi touch manipulation of on-screen items will become the new norm. Imagine doing 3D cad with a 3D design tool much like the game Spore introduced us to.

We have progressed from 2D games such as Mario to 3D FPS games such as WoW and Avitar. The future will bring new goodies.

Today, I tried to make a signature which listed every cannon which I built (that I had pictures to). I dicovered that I have built and posted 23 launchers to one forum or another since I started spudding, and three of those do not have any pictures surviving to this day. I have one cannon posted to SpudTech but not here that has broken links in the archive, so I might post that sometime later, although it's just a BB gun.

However, my signature broke the 500 character limit. Mainly because hyperlinks take up a lot of space.

Here it is, though.
