Glock pistols are known for their reliability, I don't think the wear and tear is an issue - the problems start when you mount a long silencer on it, I've seen pictures of Glock silencers with extra holes in them

My primary concern would more be how it affected accuracy. Something like the Deagle is known for accuracy (assuming the user can handle the recoil), due to it's fixed barrel and polygonal rifling.

Something with a barrel that moves around isn't going to help groupings. Small changes in the barrels initial position will affect things.

All auto loading firearms will be like that though, the opening in the barrel will be slightly larger tolerances so the bullets wont jam, versus a bolt action having a tighter tolerance which would also lead to slightly better accuracy. But i think it comes down to the shooter, like you said the Deagle has a better fixed barrel, put have you ever shot one? Trying to get off repeated shots are going to be harder due to the recoil and jump.

yeah you should just go with bolt action.

What about the recoil system on a Beretta, where the barrel unlocks. I have the Airsoft gas blowback version of that gun and it is VERY reliable. (if you could find an animation that would be crazy because... berettas own)

My friends Airsoft Glock doesnt have the barrel kick upwards like that......... thats depressing.

intrisic inaccuracy of most modern rifles is minimal... well it is always better to blame the gun isn't ?

it is a pity this doesn't apply to spudguns we don't even use rifled barrels...

did you ever go on spud tech? they sell rifled barrels.

Never shot more than .22 LR (SMLE No.8 training rifle), 5.56 NATO (L98A1), 12 gauge (not sure of type, some side-by-side break barrel) and pellet rifles - never fired any pistols, although I was once shown how to disassemble, load (with empty magazines) and "fire" a Browning 9mm.

However, although I've not shot anything other than my launchers in years, I was always a reasonably good shot of about 2 or 3 MOA.

Personally, if I were to have a pistol, my choice would certainly not be the Desert Eagle. I know almost exactly what my criteria would be.

Well considering the cha ching noise every time you shot the 50 cal, its relatively impractical for just about everything. I would love to get a colt 1911 like mr pete.

yeah I know they sell rifled barrels.... but how many spudguns here acctually have them ?

This isn't a sniper rifle, supreme accuracy isn't as much of a concern as reliability, wounding capability and magazine capacity.

Aside from the breech detail in the original diagram, I haven't made plans - because the launcher I had in mind would be identical to any simple open bolt direct blowback submachinegun like the Sten.
