The wasp side of me likes that explaination. I often hear rock comes from "Mississipi delta blues". Or jazz which sounds like noise to me.
Then one guy said Blues is short for "Blue Grass" which is folk music from Ireland/Scotland (?)

A lot of American influence is from the British like beer being more popular than wine for example. I still think perhaps musical influence is from all over. No way to tell who taught who or copied what.

I've seen Kiss in concert. They it would be their last tour (nowhere near thier last tour) I was 15 and thought it would be their last so I snuck out to see them. Got kicked out for it too!
Saw Pantera live in a little place with maybe 300 people!!!
Seen a bunch of others, some I can't remember.

I saw the Greatful Dead at the show where next day someone was struck by lightning, Died(?) Next show after Jerry Garcia went into re-hab and died! Now that may be interesting music for a cannon vid.

I was watching Pink Floyd "The Wall movie on cable the other night.
The one scene would've been cooler if it was just a simple spud movement maybe.

I was listening to a radio show about which songs better for Valentine's:
Don't fear the reaper by Blue Oyster Cult (seen them too) or Dust in the wind by Kansas (?)
The DJ was a woman and she said she could just imagine making out to the one. I was thinking she must be a cool chick!

Of course America had good rock bands and rock expanded from American Blues but there are a lot more well known bands from the 60's and 70's that were British IMO.

From the top of my head there's:

Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, The Beatles, Jethro Tull, Rolling Stones, Elton John, U2(formed in the 70's), Queen, Slade, David Bowie, Pink Floyd, The Animals, Deep Purple, The Who, Yes, Fleetwood Mac, Judas Priest, Dire Straits, Status Quo, Uriah Heep...

Compared to:

Elvis, Ramones, KISS, Beach Boys, Bob Dylan, CCR, The Doors, Hendrix, Alice Cooper, R.E.M, Foreigner, Van Halen, Billy Joel, Aerosmith, Blue Oyster Cult, The Carpenters, Aretha Franklin, Ted Nugent, Lynyrd Skynyrd...

Can't think of many more, probably missed a bunch of obvious ones.
No offence intended and i'm not trying to 'win' anything here, it's just that when I think of 60's and 70's rock, I think British.

I can't really compare the two it's mostly just a barely noticeable difference in accent. Mainly the music style of each band itself is the big difference.

Funny how people try to rate it. That's all I was explaining about blue grass being folk music or people saying Blues is different or saying rock comes from jazz (Ewww..)

Hard to explain it's like whoever played it played it and where they're from their music is from.
For example a few you listed were Knighted in England.
Funny but was Elton John Knighted?
Although Mick Jagger should've been IMO. 8)

I've found most people who are good at working with their hands are very musical or in certain families you'll find sibling either one or the other.
I have two drummer brothers who played English style punk in High School. Either musical or mechanical Maybe ancestors just say that a lot.

The blues was spin off of rock in the early 50s, often with a depressing beat (no sh!t). If you read the Clapton autobiography, you do learn alot of blues.
The rock revolution started with the british with Clapton, Hendrix (He wasnt british but started his career their because america was damned racist). THen america produced the Vaugns, Van Halen in the 80s. So it is definite that the brits started the true rock stuff.

It's funny how no club footage of Van Halen has ever surfaced yet Quiet Riot has at least 3 pro-footage concerts at the Starwood and Whiskey A GO-Go yet Van Halen was the band with the big record deals.

If Quiet Riot had been signed by an America record company, they would've been huge, and Randy Rhoads may never have left, and may still be alive today.

I've been to Rush, The Who, and Van Halen going too see Ac/dc next year (hopefully)

If I hear "the rooster" one more time I will go on rampage, Ihear that song on my local station at least 3 times a day.

Ministry New world Order . It's old but I remembered it when I heard the "Updated Mix" (Better IMO). The vid has scenes from the L.A. riots.
I imagine if this snake Obama gets elected and something happens to him this type stuff might happen again nation-wide. 8)
