i have tried to make one but it does not work it is so annoying

well i made a copy of this,used t-pins for the ignition and a lighter i found on the side of the road for fuel, works the best of all my minis, mut be the better c/b ratio Im definantly using smaller chambers on my minis for now on, even though the fuel mix is hard to get right.

I couldnt be left out of the fun, so I went and built my own. ghetto job, but what do you want for 5 minutes of effort? I was firing Q-tips and chunks of apples and little balls of modeling clay at a plastic cup. I even let my 6 year old daughter try it out (only after a safety course. of course- and with close adult supervision), she had a great time. I accidentally discharged the little bugger while tightening the wires up again and it hit me in the forearm,:oops: its got some pep for a little guy!

So I saw this while looking around the site (most of which I haven't even scratched the surface of) and thought of doing it myself. I used a 20oz Aquafina bottle for maybe a little more power hopefully. I am still working on actually firing it however. I have a 100% spark, but no ignition. I am using AXE, so I will just play around with it some.

I made one with a 1 inch by 1 inch (it says 0.27 ounces on it, so I will go with that) eye drop bottle, and a 1/8 inch by 4 inch barrel (inside tube of mechanical pencil) it may well be the smallest gun because anything smaller would be almost impossible to get fuel air mix right. I just used the wires from lighter for the spark, no stiff piece of metal, it had a better spark. I cant get it to fire, I get the mix right when I dont put the cap on, but when I try to put the cap on, the mix is never right, gotta find a way to measure the tiny bit of Axe
I also have one made out of a highlighter and pen tube, (I hit 100 feet with this bad boy, about 40 degree launch angle, ammo: a little paper cone I made with half a toothpick in it, only half an inch sticking out the end to weight it a little) I took apart my pill bottle one cause the lid wasnt tight enough and pressure escaped there

I got mine working! It is so much fun. However, the bottle (due to it being lightweight plastic I assume) gets quite warm and will begin to warp after only a few shots. But that is easily replaced.

I ditched the Aquafina bottle idea for the time being. I decided to start with the basic pill bottle. I am very satisfied! It fires the first time, every time with one spray of my old Tommy cologne. I still plan on working out the bugs on the 20oz bottle though.

hey i just came to this site teh other day and saw this and decided to make this cuz it looked easy enough. I made 2. One with a pentube and one with .5 paintball tube. The paint balls fly aobut a good 70 yds and teh ammo i was using for the pen tube(wooden pegs) flew a good 80yds. You were right these things are fun to shoot indoors. Do u know of a better fuel than butane from a lighter,hairspray or axe?

I use butane or axe in my minis, and by the way, 80 yards with a pill bottle? I highly doubt that, I get maybe 30 yards, thats the furthest I have shot something.

I already got bored with my original mini, so I thought I would change things up a bit. I have so many un-used parts from the long neck lighters, I thought I would incorporate those into my mini. The butane reseviors caught my attention. Rather than use the butane for propellant, I wired up a small flame thrower from the tip of the barrel. I just took the tiny hose that runs from the butane resevior to the tip of the lighter from the original device. Then I ran the hose along the oustside of the barrel and taped the butane resevior to the barrel. There isn't much practical use, but it sure surprises people when a 1 1/2' flame shoots out of the tip!

Sorry to bump an old thread, but what kind of lighter is that, and did you use screws for your spark?

dude i think the best fule is this o-zone safe modle air brush spray its propane with a hint of musturd oil it burns like the devl and if you tape 2 pens together you get more distance
