As for the piston breaking, it would take FAR more the 400psi to do so. I believe several people here have taken that model of QEV up over 600psi without consequence. The button-valve is also rated for 300psi, but it could be replaced by any number of other valves that are rated for much more.

AL-XG took his QEV (shuttle piston type) to 750psi and used it that high regularly. Eventually the piston tore, so he replaced it.

There is no doubt in my mind that a QEV would increase performance, but whether it would be noticeable is a different matter. Cannons like this aren't just about power anyway.
