Just watched some clips of commercial multi pump pneumatics..

They need a maximum of 10 pumps..

But then again...

More than 10 won't allow the valve to open fully and overall performance is kinda wimpy...

I'm pretty content with how it performs so I'm not changing anything.
I'll try and figure out how many pumps puts it back up to pressure just by shooting it a lot...

I'll go like this:
Put in 50 pumps.
Fire.
put in 20 more.
Fire.
Compare penetration.
Then reconcider the number of pumps required and finetune..

Aside, with a small tweak or two..those factory pumpers (the Crosman variety at least) will dump a hell of a lot more than 10 pumps before encountering partial valve lock.

But yeah...still wimpy compared to a decent 9mm airgun.

I purrrrrdy much know whurr I'm goin' with this lil' project.

I figured out where to put the... single action-double action trigger and hammer and where to mount the mag.
It'll be T-bolt fed, operated by a...lever action...

The hammer in the picture is just a mock up...so it will get a different shape without a blade sticking out the bottom....

I did put a spring on it and when cocked and released by hand that puny little spring and lightweight hammer fire the gun.

What do you mean?
The only thing it will have in common is the use of hardwood and the T-bolt.
Old Shat is a modified QEV based hammervalve actuated PCP
16mm caliber.This one is 10mm with a made-from-scratch never before seen counter balanced hammervalve as the only valve( apart form the checkvalve for the pump.

The ammo will be held by a mag , welded to the case, with the internals removable, spring fed.

The hammer on this one will be in the center, on Shat it is outside on the right like a flintlock with the mechanism housed in the wood stock. Single action only.The rod that transfers the force of the hammer to the valvestem is held in wood..

In this one all moving parts are metal, contained within the metal structure of the gun.

I'm going for both single action and double action.
( meaning it will fire when the trigger is pulled, cocking the hammer as it is depressed but also able to be hand-cocked and then trigger released.)
On top of that it will be cocked as the lever is operated.

Seems like a bit of overkill but I love the mechanics of it and
...I CAN!

It will also have a safety.

Old Shat is bolt action, this one will be lever action like a Winchester rifle.

Old Shat was built with a hacksaw and a pipethreading set.
This one with a lathe and a welder so far.


So yeah..they're not exactly the same...

The trip to biker-land just revived me...I'm back with a vengeance!

More work done...

I changed the factorymade swingarm to a homemade one...
Longer stroke and much stronger.
I now get about 1 bar per stroke. ( compressed volume equals chamber)

So I'm getting her up to pressure fast!

Also welded on the frame for the handle.
Both that and the lever will have a wooden cover.

Oh,...and I shortened it A LOT!

This is now officially project Sawn-off "the Dead"



When it's done I got an alround zombie stopper...

I could also take of the lever and put a 12 gram adapter in..
I already tried it and it fits right in.
Half an hours work to make the plug for it...

That means it could be shorter yet more powerful..hmm..
Maybe later...I like the free pressure.

Ohh man I really love the last pic, amazing ! I'm making a pump like yours too, I used a 1.5 dia piston 20 cm long and the dead space is about 0.5 cm, cubic what's the max pressure I may get?

I now get about 1 bar per stroke

yup... that was to be expected - the longer the stroke the less significant the deadspace becomes

probably most of the stroke on the previous pump got wasted in the deadspace


Of course you could get even better results with even longer stroke... you could probably go for real overkill and build a gun where the stock would split in half so that you could use both parts of it as the pump handle

naaaah go for 88g cartridges

It requires greater co 2capacity to be an effective

This work is impressive. I like the way it sounds when it blasts. Immagine what you could do with an HPA hook up?
