okay this is my first post here :o ! so anyway this is my second potato gun. my first one just broke and is easily fixable. i dont want to fix it so iam going to make a new and better one. so with these solenoid valves how do they work without moding? can they run on a battery and have a button to push? I have seen someone mod one of thses to work by pushing a button but cant find how he did it. now the one you modded on this thread how much did it cost? whats the average price for these?
THANKS

Sprinkler valves are fairly cheap. I paid $22 canadian for my 1" orbit watermaster valve. The modding supplies cost me about $14.

please do not post on such old topics. also they usually cost around $15 for your average valve, and about $7 more for a valve trigger, or you could use a trigger system similar to this one here on your solenoid.

When i mod a rain bird cp-100 should i use the external bleed part in the middle as a pilot hole?

frogy, i think to order from that site requires you to own a business and customer ID, thats what it said, but u prolly werent planning on buying anything from there... anyways... i looked on regular homedepot.com and the best they have is the 1" lawn genie without flow control. WTF is up with that? why can't they sell watermasters on the regular site? they prolly know about us and don't want people being shot by their products. lol

BY the way i was wondering could you use a saftey pop-off as a pilot? you could just yank on the ring and air would spew out.

Simply answered, yes.

I suppose. I just test yanked the 125PSI pop off and that would get annoying fast. Also I bet it would be a bit easier once there is air pressure pushing against the spring. Not to mention this would be a safety hazard seeing as if you ever breached the 125PSI pressure it would shot without warning.

um, hose_spud posted that, not me

I bought a Pop Off that's adjustable from 0 to 5000, so if he bought a pop-off that was rated really high, it wouldn't be a safety hazard...

The Lawn Genie 1" In-Line has a bleed , but the center of it doesn't have anything on it, so you should be fine...

You can leave it in or you can fill the hole with epoxy \ epoxy putty

The electric thing is called the solenoid
