In spite of the fact that I am now on the North American continent, the only item about the Super Bowl which caught my eye was
this.

He clearly drank the first three before coming up with the idea
On an unrelated current affairs note:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-26098935
On Saturday Bengt Holst, scientific director at the Danish zoo, defended Marius's destruction, saying his genes were already well represented among giraffes at the zoo.
He told the BBC it was a responsible practice on the part of zoos to manage their animal populations to ensure they remained healthy.
He could not understand the fuss over Marius, pointing out that, for instance, 700-800 deer are killed every year at a deer park north of Copenhagen to control their numbers.
The zoo planned to dissect the animal after it was killed, before feeding it to the tigers and other carnivores.
"It would be absolutely foolish to throw away a few hundred kilos of meat," Mr Holst said according to the Swedish newspaper Svenska Dagbladet. "Some is used for research and the rest for food."
Sounds perfectly reasonable to me.
Animal rights campaigners have described the move as barbaric and have accused the zoo of being unethical.
Sanctimonious sentimentalist twats.
I wonder if saying that makes me some sort of sociopath who cannot empathize with another living being, or a well adjusted person with a functional ability to reason.
edit: The story has been updated, it seems reason has trumped emotion.

I made a lightsaber!
3W RGB led, old maglite D-cell host and some lathed parts
Me lathing the parts
Still needs a better light diffuser, right now the blade is 1" clear PVC pipe and the diffuser is a foggy piece of plastic sheet i found inside of a laptop LCD screen
3W RGB led has a 3 position switch, so blue and green mods. Runs from 2x 18650 batteries in parallel, should give me around 13 hours of run time before needing a recharge
EDIT: Some stupid drunken typos...

My first though was "who would need a lightsabre" followed immediately by "of course... Jake!"

BBC article wrote:The researchers at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, North Carolina, looked at patients who had had a stroke or transient ischaemic attack (TIA), also known as a mini-stroke.
Quality of life is calculated using a formula that assesses mobility, self-care, everyday activities, depression/anxiety and pain.
At three months, women were more likely than men to report problems with mobility, pain and discomfort, anxiety and depression, but the difference was greatest in those aged over 75.
I would have thought that last line could be applied in general
Also, a fascinating development of the aerial gunship during the Vietnam war era:
