Got myself one of those cheapo keyfob cameras. Obviously I got it for some FPV footage.

Image

Impressive stuff - 15g only and very cheap ($9 or so). Feels almost expandable.. so I was thinking - why not make a video projectile ? :-D

EDIT
Some FPV footage - this one was mostly flown at higher altitude (lol but only 30 metre plus)

Notice what happens at the very end of the recording - somehow I lost about a minute of recording and there are a couple of seconds of footage from one of my other flights from that day
Don't know whether it happened when moving the files from the camera to the computer or whether it's camera's fault. Or perhaps it's because of the SD card. This happened only on this particular movie. Some more tests are needed, but overall I am satisfied. Mostly because it's small, lightweight and cheap

Video #2
This one was flown to test how well the camera works when filming something more action packed. By action packed I mean lower altitude (below 2-3 metres) and lots of fast turns. You can judge for yourself if it's any good for filming such footage.

You get extra points if you can spot a hare that was sitting there just 10-15 metres from me. Surprising given that I was there with my dog and the plane is somewhat loud (not much but still). It's very difficult to spot. You can see it at 17:15:59, 17:16:09, 17:16:29 ). Once I noticed it I should have gone up and and then slowly direct the plane at it, but somehow I didn't think of that at the time.

EDIT #2
It seems there are lots of different variants of these keyfob cameras.
You'll find lots of information on them here -> http://www.chucklohr.com/808/index.shtml
Mine seems to be model #9 >>
http://www.chucklohr.com/808/C9/index.html
Not the best one you can get, but for $9 I am not going to complain

The only thing that has stopped me from shooting it is a reliable tracking method. I'm happy to shoot it with or without but then again I'm not the one who puts hours of work in hoping to be able to: (a) design a long-range projectile, and (b) find how far it went. It'd be cool to shoot even without a tracker and I doubt there is relatively inexpensive tracking equipment that can fit inside the thing.

Got new bike! Dr 650SE from 1996, originally imported from Germany, but ohwell. The guy I bought it from is a licensed Suzuki biker repairer so it runs "pretty" smoothly, hehe

One of the good guys :D

I dropped by a locksmiths the other day enquiring about old locks they might sell cheap and the guy gave me four tumblers of decent quality for free. I thought they would re-key the locks and sell them on but I guess not.

I've got a question you might be able to help me with. I disassembled a few tumbler locks to re-key them but I could never assemble them again. When people have done it on YouTube, each spring fits inside the driver pin chambers with room to spare to place the driver pins in. So when they push the plug (with the key pins inside the plug's pin chamber) back in through the housing they can just push down on each driver pin and slide the plug forward pin by pin. On the locks I've disassembled, the springs take up the entire driver pin chambers so there's no room to balance the driver pins on top, making it damn near impossible to slide the plug through while manoeuvring the driver pin inside the plug with tweezers and then pushing it down past the shear line. Do you know of a better way to reassemble locks?

Not bad!

I had one of these, made some nice er... hidden camera footage, but one day it suddenly got very hot in my pocket, I assume the battery went into meltdown, never worked again.

Well, as we wait things are moving in the world of technology. Would these fit inside?

As an aside, anyone else enjoying this series?

It uses bluetooth. Maximum range is 10 meters assuming ideal conditions.

This feature
revolutionary Crowd Source Tracking Network, you can receive GPS updates of where your item is when another TrackR user walks by
essentially means that you will get a report if someone with the same app and gps on gets within range of the device. Very unlikely to be honest.

What he needs is a custom made RF transmitter

1996! I remember it well, and now everyone who was born in that year is old enough to drive. I'm getting old.

Nice bike btw :)

Seems to be motorbike week. I've sourced a motorbike which I shan't name 03 Virago, vagina, whatever for $1500, which is being held for me (friend of a friend), so that'll be good fun. I can't bear them stock, so I'll make BtB proud and go full bobber on it. Need a bike license now haha.
