I think it's irrelevant whether they show his body on display or show more proof. First of all, after having read all the crap about the 'birthers' who still think Obama wasn't born in the US, anyone who has doubts that Osama isn't really dead will probably still have doubts if the CIA put his body and DNA results on display.
Second, if it's some ploy to bring Osama out of hiding or whether Obama feels like lying to get more popular I doubt they would risk lying only for Osama to show up on a video 4 months holding up the Washington Post.
Plus, would a photocopied sheet showing two DNA charts with a bunch of scientific text ending in "Results show the two DNA samples match for siblings with sample BIP0182910 significantly similar to sample BIP0284381" or whatever really convince you that they got Osama?
The sea burial does seem strange to me as well, wouldn't be surprised if that's bad information or a lie.

Good points, and I can assure you that in spite of all the controls put in place there are
always ways to fake laboratory results in a convincing manner, but the fact that the president has come out and declared it, they must be pretty damn sure it's him. There will always be disbelievers, like there are still those who believe
Princess Diana was murderedand
Americans never landed on the moon.
I echo your sentiments about the burial at sea - if the report is true - to be a bit fishy () but I do expect him to be buried in a manner that his remains are not accessible in order to avoid creating a shrine for jihadists, just as was done with Hitler's remains after his suicide.

The only proof that would be even close to acceptable to me would be video footage but even that could be faked (with time to do it).
Anything within a hour of real time would be the most convincing to me.
Wouldn't be the 1st time someone has lied to get their way for what ever reason, or it could be true as true...nobody will ever really know for sure simply because of how fast this was announced and happened.

Well what do you expect, for them to give you a week's notice?

Maybe you missed or just don't understand this:

It's clearly the sentance before what you quoted of my post.

Then let me rephrase my point, the government (VERY understandably) doesn't give ANYBODY, aside from people who need to know, ANY notification, no matter how short in time-span, when they are doing something like this.
Really, I can't see any other way this shindig could have went down. If people choose not to believe it that's their choice, along with believing the moon landing was fake, bleach makes killer explosives, etc., etc...

You do miss-understand my post. I didn't/wasn't asking to be let in on the operation before hand. I'm saying post operation could have been handled way better. Hope that helps.
I'm not a conspiracy theorist either...

Make no mistake, I think most all politicians, regardless of party affiliations, are less than honorable. Because everything that has happened on Obama's watch has been blamed on Bush, it's only fair that Bush should also get the credit for bagging Bin Laden.

I'm going to believe the US government's reports, simply on the basis of how much they now have to lose if this turns out to be a phony.
I'm pretty sure video will come out. I heard from a somewhat reliable source that there is a recording the CIA currently holds. How much that'll be worth is uncertain because of the nature of conspiracy theories, but hey.
Just my opinion here: Osama Bin Laden never thought he was evil, and actually his response is understandable under the circumstances. This is simply what happens when we combine freedom, money, religious fervor, and poor foreign policy.

I like that line of thinking - and indeed, the seeds for this operation were sown long before Obama came to power and through the work of security agencies really acting independently of the government.

I see what you mean and you're right - but you can say that of every enemy, don't the North Koreans love their children too etc. etc. - but when people are bent on destroying your way of life, it' not the time to be sentimental.

I think it's reasonable, without actually listening to all the arguments either way. The risk of 'faking' it would be too high, and even so, if I were obama I would have at least waited until closer to elections.
along with believing the moon landing was fake, bleach makes killer explosives, etc., etc...
err... no.
but I can tell you from experience it least makes decent oxidizers...

Appears that a 'tornado' landed in a suburb about 15min away from me. It's nothing like the ones you get in America but apparently one person has died.
Found this funny video that shows part of it, typical Kiwi reaction to a tornado (considering we don't get any in NZ):

If I was American,
this would make me pretty angry.
Literally billions of precious tax dollars were spent to make this moment happen, and only a small room of people get to watch?
The article itself seems to hint at it:
"We give thanks to the countless intelligence and counterterrorism professionals who've worked tirelessly to achieve this outcome. The American people do not see their work, nor know their names."
However, Obama apparently does get to see their work as it's being carried out.
It's almost as if the journalist wanted to add "Cunt." at the end

Two dead now...
looks like it was worse than I originally thought as it touched down next to the third largest shopping mall in NZ (though the building in that video was already gutted before the twister).
