aah reading that story gives me the chills, reminds me of the number of time i could nearly have lost an eye, lets see, one time i think i was only 3 maybe 4 and i was feeding a cow some bananas and it decided to horn me, i now have a scar rite between my eyes. um another time, 6 or 7 i was annoying our cat, and he swiped at me, and somehow got a claw hooked up under my eyelid, how he didn't rip my eye out i don't know, uh another, wen i 16 and tinkering around with my first combustion (a chocolate milk bottle, the fuel was metho sprayed in with a spray bottle) and i dry fired it and then thinking of course all the fuel is gone i looked inside to check the spark, and it would seem that the metho sitting in the bottom was uh gasifying enough to fire again, resulting in a hot eye and not eyelashes or eyebrows.
things like that really make us think, and realise we only get 2 eyes, if you lose one or both then that could be your life over.
and currently as i type this i happen to have a stye in my right eye, very painful and sore ans swollen.

Well, as long as you keep your trigger finger on you'll be fine.

And how, perchance, did the bone which started off inside your finger, come to be not inside your finger?

Quite a few of us have. It just happens the image links have gone dead in the meantime.
And, I will generally let posting
mistakes slide, but you can only have deliberately chosen to post "C" rather than "see".
Please... that kind of thing certainly doesn't improve any view peoples might have of spudgunners.

Thats really bad. I glad most of the damage was repairable. Something similar happened to me but with hydrogen bubbles. I was pumbing hydrogen into a syringe with soappy water and when I ignited the buble my eye got spray with hot vapor and soap. Fortunately my eye just hurt for some minutes because of the soap.
Also something I learned the hard lesson is that you shouldn't breathe over a long time deodorant spray. I was launching cannons a whole evening and after that my throat was really soar and dry and it hurt when I swallowed for one day. Now I wear a gas mask.

In regards to liability, a little padding on the pipe would have greatly reduced the rebound velocity. They put this stuff on football goalposts for a reason. it might get hit. Why not on posts for a rain shelter in line with high speed golf balls.
An ounce of prevention goes a long way. Is it negligence? Not sure. The courts will figure it out. I am not a lawyer.

What else could you expect from a 15-year old golf boy
I feel sorry for the people who run the golf course.
I mean, he was the one who gave the ball the energy to bruise his eye. The golf course didn't.
Also, if he can't even see he's going to hit a metal pole, should he be playing golf?
